Xavier/Magneto Relationship's probably G@Y... just like this movie lol.

Hey, gr8 interview @ ED, but Fox lost me after X3!

X1 and X2 were good for their time (Batman&Robin time) but even they don't hold up these days when we've had such movies as WATCHMEN, TDK, KICK-ASS, IRON MAN etc etc...

STINGER VISION for this one! : P

I hate Bryan Singer with a passion after the first two movies and Superman Returns, but this is a great interview...nice one ED! :) Fingers crossed that it was Matthew Vaughn who made the big decisions with X-Men: First Class.

JOSH @ Lol, there is no bright side to this movie lol, they started out wrong for a First Class movie and are even ignoring their own twisted movie-verse.

Still one day Marvel Studios! : P

Thanks, guys. I actually love the first two X-Men films. I wasn't that in to First Class until I saw the trailer, and now I'm REALLY curious about it.

I dunno LEE, the trailer was pretty awesome! The continuity is a HUGE mess I agree, but we're stuck with them...probably forever if the huge response it got on Facebook and Twitter are any indication of its box office taking! Just got to hope that they end up making a half decent movie, even though it wont do the comic books justice. You see that editorial I did the other day, lol?

ED: I know I'm in the minority of people who didnt like Singer's X-Men movies...I just HATED what he did in terms of characters, costumes and direction. However, I have ordered the trilogy on blu-ray, so plan on taking another look at them in the slim chance that my opinion might change! Doubt it though, lol. Looking forward to X-Men: First Class since the frankly brilliant trailer though.

I wanna start off by saying, I'm a Singer hater and Ratner hater. That being said, here's a thought. Maybe it's a good thing they're ignoring their own universe. Most of it was crap to begin with and if that is the case then Matthew Vaughn is pretty much just making his own X-Men movie with his own take of the universe. Is that really a bad thing? Aside from the fact that it was rushed and the Cat-Beast we're getting (which I'm not even that upset about, truth be told) there's not much I don't like about this movie so far (I'm also bearing in mind that trailers can and have been misleading). On top of that we're also getting a Wolverine movie that's separate from all other X-Men movies (including Borigins!), with a badass director at the helm of the project. I'm not saying Fox is shaping up, I'm not even saying they know what they're doing. What I am saying is I'd rather have this then the crap they've been putting out post-X2.

Dude the trailer looked horrible!!!

Seriously, it did lol.

In my mind, I think they're pretty much ignoring the first three movies. I really do think this is a reboot and that as the saga continues, it will be from the point of where First Class ends.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 2/27/2011, 12:16 PM
ED @ If they was ignoring the movies, why have they got clips of previous X-Men movies in that trailer lol?

And if they wanted to REBOOT this, best way would have been with the whole cast of FIRST CLASS not just a thundercat [frick]ed up version of Beast lol.

Its like having an AVENGERS film with just IRON MAN in it and a handful of second and third stringers.

F'ing Fox! : P
ReillyParker
ReillyParker - 2/27/2011, 12:18 PM
Pretty much what I think too Ed, if this movie does go on to do well. They'll make a sequel of it, which I think is gonna include the actual first class separate from whatever origin they had in Borigins or any of the trilogy beforehand. They're not calling it a reboot now because they wanna see how well it performs, if it does do well, Fox is pretty much gonna run with it. That's my theory anyway.

@LEE: I agree, F'ing Fox indeed...

Cool interview Good Job! Haters gonna Hate... how can you call something like this unfaithful, then tout Watchmen as being "good," of all things? Did you really read Dr. Manhattan as having a wheedly voice in the comics? He has blue word balloons for goodness sakes, the man's powerful, some emo kid that Slo-Mo Snyder turned him into.

MarkCassidy - 2/27/2011, 12:22 PM
Great job Ed. I really like Singer's movies(Valkrie being the exception) and hope Jack The Giant Killer is great too.

Josh, you might as well be talking to the wall. To Lee a good movie is one that follows the comics..if it doesn't, it's bad. No grey area. Acting , direction, script..not an issue.
marvel72
marvel72 - 2/27/2011, 12:28 PM
they're ignoring the first three movies, the comic books & the fans.

also i hope this is not a reboot, that would suck more than a cheap whore.

@ ed gross

another great interveiw,mate.

The first 2 x-men movies weren't that bad at all(aside from Sabretooth). Singer ruined Superman for us all for years but I'm excited to see this movie after seeing the trailer. Continuity doesn't matter as much to me when it comes to this franchise. I'm willing to bet this movie is the summer sleeper. Great actors, great fx, cool characters, Bacon, solid director, and an idiot producer...sounds like a decent movie to me.

CaptainAmerica
CaptainAmerica - 2/27/2011, 12:40 PM
I agree with Ed, it's kind of a reboot. It was said a while ago (forgot who) that they were taking some elements from the new Star Trek film. If First Class is the 1st in a new trilogy it might be too long for them to make an X-Men 4 film, which would mean the actors would be too old to reprise their roles(Famke Janssen, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, etc). It would make perfect sense to use time travel as a tool for the sequels and maybe even have some of them meet their future selves.
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 2/27/2011, 12:49 PM
First Class is not ignoring the other X-movies. It is simply not sticking to all the events of Last Stand and Wolverine. It is a prequel, and it is going to be in line with X1 and X2, which is why they showed clips of Stewart and McKellen in the trailer.

And going by the way fans bash what happened in Last Stand and Wolverine, you would think that they wouldn't mind if First Class ignored some things that happened in each. But no, they still complain that it's not following the continuities of those two movies, continuities they openly hate. Mind-bottling, really.

TEA @ Bwahahhahahha LOVE that pic man! ; D

I used to think the first two was good... not anymore, the more Fox make these movies, the more they ruin the first two!

I mean, you could have believed ANGEL was an original X-MEN etc but now, nope, they [frick]ed that up with X3 and wtf WHITE QUEEN is her own Mother, great thinking lol.

Reilly @ Cool! :)

One name comes to mind Dougray Scott, if he would have been able to play Wolverine would we have had any interest after the first movie. The critics and many movie goers agreed on the first two movies which were done very well principally by two people Bryan Singer and Hugh Jackman. It is also Singer's fault for the third movie by LEAVING and many in the fan base going huh? Singer is trying to make amends by what I think is the movie he first wanted to make. Fox would have never made the first movie without Wolverine or Xavier or the number one X-Men villian, Magneto. Now I love all the trash talk here but Fox should get it most of all. This is why Marvel and Disney need to grow a set of BALLS and get the characters back!!!
CaptainAmerica
CaptainAmerica - 2/27/2011, 1:19 PM
^balls don't matter, Fox and Sony have the rights to alot of their superheroes, it's up to Fox and Sony to sell them, not up to Marvel to buy them.

"In my mind, I think they're pretty much ignoring the first three movies. I really do think this is a reboot and that as the saga continues, it will be from the point of where First Class ends."

I've been saying that since day one. ;-)

Lee@, they are showing some clips from the prior films as a feeble attempt try to show to the fans that they are doing a prequel and show continuity, even though they have shown they have blown the continuity out of the water.

MAXQ1961
MAXQ1961 - 2/27/2011, 1:56 PM
If Marvels two movies this summer do well along with their other related entertainment and merchandise Marvel/Disney will be the only ones able to buy them. Buy them before Sony, Fox and Lionsgate milk them dry and no movie fan or gamer will give a hoot. Now or very soon would be best. So balls do matter and so does money. Money talks and Disney has it, Fox, Sony and Lionsgate will listen and maybe will sell. Yeah no shit it does take a buyer and seller! lol
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 2/27/2011, 2:11 PM
Ranger @ Yeah man!

MAXQ1961 @ Fingers crossed dude, they do get them back!

My personal fear too is JOE PUBLIC wont give a sh1t once Marvel/Disney do get 'em because of the crap Fox and Sony are pushing out, [frick]ing real shame.

Even Disney doesn't have extra cash to buy back rights to Spider man and the X-men. Have to be around a couple billion and they only payed 4 for all of Marvel.
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 2/27/2011, 2:21 PM
Disney and Marvel are not getting the rights back to X-Men any time soon, if ever. It's not going to happen, no matter how many times you shout it on the internet.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 2/27/2011, 2:45 PM
Lee, Wolverine is an example of a film that failed on both counts(even though I did still kinda like it:), but the first 2 X movies did not. I just can't take the opinion of a guy that says he no longer likes a movie because other movies turned him off them seriously I'm sorry!

MAXQ1961
MAXQ1961 - 2/27/2011, 2:48 PM
Well let's see... Pirates of the Carribbean 4, Cars 2, Thor, Captain America. any other Disney movies this year? Go see them and don't go see any Fox, Sony, Lionsgate in fact see those twice take your mom for mother's day. Nieces and Nephews to WINNIE The POOH. Go thrice just don't go see X-Men or any Fox or Sony movie. That is how to use the internet. Twitter, Face book, MySpace or whatever. Seemed to work for the Egyptians. Never say Never my fanboy friend.

@InTylerWeTrust- THANK YOU!! It gets a little annoying seeing so many people here thinking (or hoping) that Fox will one day let go one of their main cash cows. People don't think about how business works. There is a reason Fox is such a movie powerhouse and has been for several decades. Wether First Class will be good or bad, the X-men and their vast array of characters are going no where. The Fox executives are way too smart to let that happen.

And what happened to the love for X-2?? Wasn't it once considered the new crown jewel of comic book movies? A movie far superior than it's predecessor? I swear fanboys have short memories. SMDH

X-Men 2 remains one of the best CBM's of all time, in my opinion. I would rank it slightly behind Superman 1 and 2. I hate the leather, lack of continuity, etc. but X2 delivered in every way that counts. I just watched it again and was blown away.

Haters are upset at Singer because he did Superman. Stop crying and be grateful he's back.
