X-MEN '97 Merchandise Puts The Spotlight On Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, And Gambit

We still don't know when we'll actually get to watch X-Men '97, but some newly surfaced merchandise has offered fans a fresh look at the animated revival's Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, and Gambit...

With X-Men '97's premiere date still a mystery to us, it appears the show's apparent delay has done nothing to stop merchandise from slowly rolling out into stores across the U.S. (via Toonado.com).

On that, the main members of the team receive the spotlight, including Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, and Gambit. Whether this means they should now be considered the protagonists of this series or simply the characters who will be front and centre in marketing and merchandise material remains to be seen.

They all look fantastic, anyway, and Storm's design is one we know many of you will appreciate.

"Marvel Studios presents 'X-Men '97,'" a recently released synopsis reads, "in which the X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before and are forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future."

Earlier this year, Wolverine voice actor Cal Dodd confirmed he's already working on season 2 of X-Men '97, and one insider has claimed the plan is for the show to run for a total of 4. That's very exciting news and suggests the X-Men: The Animated Series follow-up will remain on our screens for the foreseeable future.

However, before we get too ahead of ourselves, getting an official update on where things stand with the sequel series would be nice!

We had expected X-Men '97 to premiere on Disney+ this year, but work on Marvel Studios' animated offerings appears to have ground to a halt, with the fate of this show, What If...?, Marvel Zombies, and Spider-Man: Freshman Year now a mystery to us.

Going back to this team of mutants, and they will, of course, eventually be rebooted in a live-action project. X-Men '97 seems like a great way to familiarise many fans with the team before they join the MCU, especially as Fox's movies are (thankfully) becoming a distant memory.

I just had a sense memory of watching the cartoon with my brothers, and the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. Oh the good ole days.

The live action MCU X-Men had better have a roster and costumes similar to this.

Nineties X-men, Batman, and Spidey, made me the nerd I am today. Dammit. I shoulda stopped with the ninja turtles and then shot my shot with every girl on the block but nooooOo! I don’t like this term, so I’m not using it lightly, I became the Sergeant slaughter of Incels. No girls like me because they’re stupid! No, they didn’t like me because I was stupid.

The hell am I talking about, this is about the new X-Men cartoon. Suffice to say, “thinking of going to be as good as the old one. I don’t have that confidence in Disney+.

As a 3.75-4” figure collector, I’m definitely excited for these.

@bobevanz - If it’s anyone in that scale, I reserve that for characters that are either giant-size or have size-changing powers.

The X-Men represents Diversity and Wokeness, I can't wait to watch fake fans get triggered

@KaptainKhaos - yeah I'll be intriguing to see the same lot complain about that lol

@KaptainKhaos - The X-Men also have tons of diverse characters to pull from. So there's no need to race or gender swap anyone.

The thing that's funny is everyone knows what the X-Men stand for. It's not like it's some deep and thought provoking thing that only scholars understand. And the movie should 100% represent that correctly in the story of the film.

The fact that the X-Men stand for diversity and acceptance isn't an excuse for misrepresenting their own characters.

@KaptainKhaos - The X-Men represent people being oppressed. Maybe woke in how black people used to use the term. But not the nonsense woks religion of today.

@CorndogBurglar - where did I mention Gender/Race Swapping, you definitely missed the point, but that's okay, the bait worked

@KaptainKhaos - You're talking about "fake fans" getting mad about the movie being diverse and "woke".

Race swapping is something that is considered "woke". I don't see how I missed the point. You know what you were trying to do with that comment.

As unlikely as it is, IF 4 seasons ran, w/ 1 per year w/ the 1st starting by end of 2023, they would run till 2027 which would be a great anniversary date to end the show and introduce the Live Action X-Men into the MCU.

If some crazy multiverse shenanigans show how lead to this team w/ the show being their intro it would be bonkers. They’ve said F4 won’t be an origin, what if X97 was the “origin” for the mutants that are to be intro’d?

Highly doubtful, I know, and it would rob us of live action versions of certain storylines, but it would def give the characters depth and backstory. Plenty of other, newer stories left to be told.

Just day dreaming / spitballing… would kinda prefer they didn’t do it that way, bc some arcs need to be done in live action.

As long as the X-Men look like the 97 gang, all will be in harmony

Definitely reminds me of the 90s Toybiz X-Men figures.
That’s not a bad thing. 👍🙌
