Starring Lena Headey, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, Sullivan Stapleton, Andrew Tiernan and Callan Mulvey. Directed by Noam Murro. Written by Kurt Johnstad and Zack Snyder based on the fictional work of Frank Miller. Produced by Thomas Tull, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Stephen Jones, Jon Jashni, Craig J. Flores and Marty P. Ewing for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Studios. The film is set for U.S. release on August 2nd.

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

Looks alright. Visually, the movie will probably be on par with the first film (which was particularly great in that field). Otherwise, I'm not sold yet. Movie still feels like a cash-in since the first flick was such a success.

I like the fact that this film has been kept on hush in regards to some of the spoilers and on the set pics.

It's always the films we know less about that end up being good/great/entertaining

-X-Men: First Class
-Dredd
-The Wolverine :,]

Why couldn't Murro direct Man of Steel and Snyder produced?

I hope that's not what they end up saying about Man of Steel Nomis

why is this called 300??? they should have given it an original title, not trying to piggy back off the original

I recall reading this was going to take place at the same time as 300
But the trailer obviously shows is definitely a sequel.
You can even see Xerxes scar on his cheek just to cement it

@rocky

This film takes place around a year or so after the Battle of Thermopylae and in the events surrounding the naval battle of Salamis. The main hero will be the Athenian naval commander Themistocles. Eva Green will play Artemesia.

If you're interested read Herodotus' account of the Greco-Persian war.

LFANCH
LFANCH - 6/12/2013, 5:29 PM
I thought this was going to be a prequel as well. The trailer wasn't bad though, maybe a little too much angry screaming "RRAAAAAAAGGHHH!". Hopefully the movie starts out in parallel with the first, if I recall correctly there was a naval battle taking place the same time as the battle of Thermopoli. Although all I actually know about it came from a show on the history channel a few years ago, so I could be totally wrong about that.
