Third Full-Length Trailer For 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE Released

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released a third action-packed - containing plenty of new footage - for the follow-up to Zack Snyder's critically acclaimed 300 (this time directed by Noam Murro, with a script from Snyder and Kurt Johnstad), 300: Rise of an Empire.

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

STARRING:

Sullivan Stapleton as Themistocles
Eva Green as Artemisia
Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo of Sparta
Rodrigo Santoro as King Xerxes
Hans Matheson as Aeskylos
Andrew Pleavin as Daxos
Callan Mulvey as Scyllias
David Wenham as Dilios
Jack O'Connell as Calisto
Andrew Tiernan as Ephialtes
Yigal Naor as Darius

RELEASE DATE: March 7th, 2014.

Yeah, so.. I'm totally not hungover. Why am I not hungover?

What kind of a f*ckin' way to start a day is that? F*ck equilibrium, it's overrated. Who needs balance when you can just dunk your head in ice-cold water and call it a morning.

@Dev7

If I'm not mistaken 300 was critically acclaimed when it came out. I do feel this one is going too be a flop because who really cares anymore?

Let me say it again.

Although I'm still "meh" about the movie, I have to admit that these trailers are pretty cool. Actually, now I'm looking forward to some elements that are hinted in the trailers, like Xerxes' backstory and the role of women in the movie. Well done, marketing guys, well done.

I feel like 300 got parodied to death, and the slow-mo, everything's a blue screen matte-painting aesthetic that was utilized in the first film has fallen out of style, and is now simply a sign of a lazy filmmaker.

They waited too long to make a sequel, and now nobody cares.

santoanderson hit the nail right on the head. EVERYONE has copied what used to be the unique visuals and aesthetics of 300. It's been done to death, and now they expect us to have the same reaction to the sequel as we did with the 1st one? They're wayyyy too late. There's nothing unique about it anymore. And unfortunately, the visuals are pretty much the only thing going for it.

Everytime I look at something 300 RoaE footage, I'm constantly reminded how Eva Green should've been Wonder Woman...

So I guess they are completely ignoring the ending of the first film with Dilios? I much rather see that story than this shit.

Some of you may not care but some of us do wanna see this. Some people like a good "Sword & Sandel" movie. If it wasn't for Troy & 300 we wouldn't have gotten Spartacus & Game of Thrones done right & not water down to some PG-13 crapfest so calm down haters you never know the movie might actually be good.

I stronlgy disliked the first one when I watched it on the big screen, but it became something of a guilty pleasure for me. Not really interested in this weird sequel, although I will likely watch it at some point when it's out on Blu-ray.

Visually, this film looks amazing. I'd be surprised if it's actually any good though. And that's a LOT of slow motion.

I don't know. At least Hack Snyder isn't directed it but it still looks like he did with all that slo-mo crap that ruined 300 and Watchmen.

niklander@ What does Thor TDW have anything to do with this?
pesmerga44
pesmerga44 - 1/20/2014, 12:47 PM
@niklander

No idea what you are talking about the Thor trailers never hid scenes of them on Earth. They showcased scenes of Malekith attacking Earth and Thor on Earth the way you make it sound none of trailers ever showcased Earth and were purely on Asgard or another of the nine realms.

Lastly "loosely" is a strong term for 300 because beyond there being Greeks vs Persians that is about as historically accurate the movies get.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 1/20/2014, 12:53 PM
niklander@ All a matter of opinion, but I don't know why this type of film needs to be even compared to Thor TDW. I thought Thor TDW was pretty solid and it wasn't suppose to be a "historic adventure" film. Different strokes.
