Two years after the devastating effects of “The Reichenbach Fall,” Dr John Watson has got on with his life. New horizons, romance and a comforting domestic future beckon. But, with London under threat of a huge terrorist attack, Sherlock Holmes is about to rise from the grave with all the theatricality that comes so naturally to him. It’s what his best friend wanted more than anything, but for John Watson it might well be a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’! If Sherlock thinks everything will be just as he left it though, he’s in for a very big surprise...

@SidTheAstroSloth Yes season 1 and 2 are on Netflix. Only 3 episodes per season, each running about 1.5 hours.

Series three finale was a great watch, if a little too neatly tied up at the end. Would have liked to see some real consequences for Sherlock's actions.

Absolutely one of the best shows on television right now. Season 3 was incredible, and that cliff-hanger came out of nowhere! Hopefully they won't make us wait another 2 years for next season.

Benedict Cumberbatch has a villain face and aura... he really needs to play the villain in Star Wars

Series 3 wasn't as good as the previous two, but it was still a hell of a lot more entertaining than most American shows.

This season was really Good but Episodes 1 & 3 felt uneven to me. Episode 2 The Sign of 3 was freaking AWESOME! Probably my favorite episode since A Scandal In Belgravia.

@ MarkV, I'm not sure, personally I might have to reserve that honor for Game of Thrones. But Sherlock isn't that far behind at all. In any case, Sherlock is leagues better than the Robert Downey Jr. films or the Elementary television series.

There's only one CBM role for him. He was born to play Dream.

Overayayated!

Benedict Cumberbatch is anyway.
Sherlock is okay at best.
Elementary is a far superior program.

I think season 3 was actually better than season 2. Season 2 seemed to take a little bit of a misstep with episode 2 but I loved all the episodes in season 3. I think the characters were a bit more filled out.

@TheIronStomach

Either you are trolling or not very smart. Sherlock is much better than Elementary. At least with Sherlock we get actually acting (at least when it comes to the person who plays John Watson) and the scripts are much better.

@iron

You're going to struggle to find anyone who agrees with you.

I watch Elementary as well and it's ok, but you can work out the plot in the first 5 mins normally, you don't have to be Sherlock to work it out - it's rarely surprising or inventive. It's a standard crime of the week type show.

Sherlock on the other hand is superb and it's hard to guess where it's going. It's event TV and in the UK gets staggering audience figures. The writing and acting are on another level from Elementary.

@TheIronStomach to each his own, but imo it's not even close. Elementary is ok, but compared to Sherlock it's like Filet Mignon & Ground Beef. Both good, but one is by far superior.

@Dangermouse78 That's the truth I've seen more complex mysteries on episodes of Murder She Wrote.

I actuall y predicted the ending of series 3 before I saw it to people at school. When we finally saw the last episode they were like "You were right!" The show wouldn't be the same without him. :)

Sherlock season 3 was like pizza. It wasn't that good, but since it was Sherlock it was still good. The wedding episode was probably my favorite. "The Case of the Poisonous Giant" was definitely one of the funniest parts of the entire series. Also I enjoyed seeing how the mind palace actually works and what Sherlock sees. Though the end of the season wasn't as cliffhangery as the last, it still has my frantically waiting for series 4. The last minute of Sherlock series 3 had me smiling ear to ear.

Guess I'm not the only one saying this...give Benedict Cumberbatch the Emmy for best actor right frigging now!!!!!! I'm a huge, tremendous fan of Breaking Bad, probably my favorite show of all time, and love Cranston, one of the greatest actors, but Cumberbatch...GEEZ!!! Un-be-frickin-lievable!!! This is hands down one of the greatest, most incredible shows I've ever watched. The writing is incredible...between the dialog, the timing, the acting...everything. Only bad thing about it...not enough episodes LOL. I want more in a season, but that' sort of a good thing...it's not dragged out. Where as some shows (e.g. Arrow or any CW show...BLAH!!), are too damn long and dragged out. More shows should take example from shows on the cable networks where there's only 10-13 episodes, or in Sherlock's case, 3 per season. Can't wait for the 4th season.

Was it just me or did anyone else spot a Chris nolan-esque bat symbol above the fire place in Sherlocks flat of the final episode?

I've been saying it for about 2 years now and I will keep saying this man is and has always been perfect for Martian Manhunter. He has the height, the voice, the presence, and all he needs is to gain some muscle and possibly cut his hair down low enough for a bald cap. Listening to the way he spoke as the Necromancer in The Desolation of Smaug definitely let me see that he would make a Martian dialect sound AMAZING and his voice coupled with his posture in Sherlock definitely shows he could give MM quirks and mannerisms.
