Good to see that they're sticking with using the names of the books! I doubt that too much of what went on in the short story will make it into this movie though as they've already done that with Octopussy! :P

I really hope it's better than QoS. There was such a dive in quality between CR and that one. Terribly unfortunate.

I love the new Bond...it's a more serious film and while Daniel C didnt look like the traditional Bond once I saw Bond 21 He felt like a true/real bond.

I can't wait.
The new Bond films are more of a mature film not relying on the latest gadgets to help sell the movie.

Connery is the only Bond.... I don't like any of the other guys who played Bond. Well maybe Brosnan wasn't too bad but still like Connery overall.

I actually liked Quantum of Solace more than Casino Royale and loved them both because they were so much more faithful to the feel of Fleming's novels!

Connery's definitely the man, but Daniel Craig is pretty amazing in the part (and I was one of those people incredibly resistant to him playing 007).

I was raised on Roger Moore as Bond...the rest to me "average" at best until Daniel Craig.

He made me believe he could be "The Best" her Majestry Could offer.

The rest just seemed like Hugh Heffner bored of banging the bunnies and going out for an adventure.

Cheesey fist fights, lame shooting scenes.

DC had more of a killer, spy persona. I also like how they developed him into that character.

@ srafisher

yeah, and with spy movies, they all have different plots and characters, just like with different CBM's. lol

"and if you are gonna have another person step in for bond...kill off the old one"

if you kill them off, then it isn't Bond anymore. you know what, never mind, lol.

@Superdog-I think people are allowed to say they are not a fan of something in the comments section. That is one of the reasons its there for. Now, if they are going to be rude, vulgar or disrespectful of something, that's another matter that is not needed. I like the Bond films but not a fan of say, Smallville. I don't check out many of those articles but I do some and comment on a few as well. When I have something negative to say, I try to do it respectfully or in a lighthearted way.

I think that is the first time I have ever heard someone say they hate Bond movies.

I would never start an article with "As described by Wikipedia". My brain shut off right then.

What I find so funny is the loyalty that we all have to the Bond we grew up with. I grew up with Connery as Bond, and in my mind he's the best (although to be perfectly honest, I've managed to roll along with each cast change and have stuck with the series and enjoyed most of the films). A good friend of mine grew up on Roger Moore, and he's the best as far as my friend is concerned.

One day I was watching Goldfinger and my oldest son, who grew up on the Pierce Brosnan films, watched a few minutes before commenting, "Oh my God, there's so much talking!" Obviously he's loyal to Pierce.

And so it goes.

can we all agree that Timothy Dalton is a joke as Bond, though?
superdog
superdog - 4/19/2010, 10:37 AM
yeah, i actually grew up on roger moore as well, and thought at the time he was the best bond. looking back, i can see how ridiculous i was for thinking that :)

dogs@ ive said before, if you wanna go on an article and talk about why you think smallville or whatever is bad in a meaningful and thoughtful argument, thats fine. but to come on and simply say as someone in this post did "dont care i hate bond"...that is not a discussion, its childish and serves no purpose but to incite. that is not a true comment, just lameness. ofcourse they can do it, free county, i just dont understand why someone would other than to be a troll.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 4/19/2010, 10:45 AM
I am a Connery and Moore fan, but if Craig keeps playing the part, he may overtake Moore for me. It's hard to beat Connery. Brosnan is actually my least favorite Bond. I can't really explain it, but he just didn't seem right to me for the part.
DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 4/19/2010, 10:46 AM
@Superdog-Agree, I guess after seeing some of the tastless posts from other articles, that one seemed tame but I see what you are saying. Someone saying they don't care for or hate a movie or character doesn't bother me as much and can lead to a discussion for others to go more in depth, constructively.

These new Bond movies are terrible. They've moved away from everything that made the real Bond movies great. They took away the gadgets, witty dialogue, exotic locales, somewhat extravagant villains and their henchmen, etc. They should just forget about the reboot and go back to making real Bond movies.

Michael Fassbender for James Bond!
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 4/19/2010, 11:28 AM
@ dartheyegouger

well, considering that the new Bond movies follow the original books better, i would have to say that the old movies were not good representations of Bond...
superdog
superdog - 4/19/2010, 11:37 AM
Darth@ corndog beat me to my comment. The current movies are more in line with the books. The old movies with the campy one liners and over the top gadgets were the real movies that DONT represent the true bond. Sure they are good in thier own right, but they are not Ian Flemings bond.

Dogs@ agreed. This comment was tame but just as big a waste of time. I've just seen a lot of vitrial and spiteful comments on the site lately. It's all annoying me. :)

I don't think the Bond films can ever go back to the way they once were. Once you become the subject of a dead-on parody, much as those Bond films did with the Austin Powers series, it's very difficult to get an audience to embrace it again. This harder-edged current approach -- especially based on the box office -- seems to be what the mainstream audience wants.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 4/19/2010, 1:11 PM
dartheyegouger@ I fail to see a lack of exotic locations in the last two movies. The Bahamas, Montenegro, Venice, Tuscany, Haiti, South America, etc. There were some beautiful locations shot in both films.
