The first stills from Sony Pictures' upcoming
Charlie's Angels movie have been released (via
EW), giving us our first official look at the new team members played by Kristen Stewart (
Twilight), Naomi Scott (
Aladdin), and Ella Balinska (
Nyela’s Dream).
In addition, some surprising new details about the
reboot sequel have been revealed. According to Banks, this
Charlie's Angels will actually serve as a "continuation" that will incorporate the events of the original 1970s TV series and the McG-directed 2000s movies.

Charlie's Angels is set to hit theaters on November 15.
The New Team
Director Elizabeth Banks, pictured here with her new trio of ass-kicking heroines.
“It was important to me to make a movie about women working together and supporting each other, and not make a movie about their romantic entanglements or their mother they don’t call enough,” says the actress-turned filmmaker.
“When I’m at work, I don’t talk about those things. I get on with my job. It felt important to do that for the Angels, to treat them with the respect their skill set demands.”
Sabina Undercover
Stewart's character is named Sabina Wilson, and is described as "the hard-partying, highly skilled wild card" of the team.
Here, she goes undercover at a Turkish derby, where the team has been tailing a target until “chaos ensues."
Jane and Langston
Ella Balinska plays Jane Kano, the "ex-MI6 muscle of the group."
She's pictured here with a mysterious character named Langston, who will be played by T
o All the Boys I've Loved Before actor - and quite possibly our new He-Man - Noah Centineo.
Elena
Aladdin’s Naomi Scott plays Elena Houghlin, an "MIT-trained scientist who serves as the heart of the movie.”
“I wanted somebody who I felt the audience wants to root for,” Banks says of casting her Power Rangers co-star in the pivotal role.
“She’s getting to be this Everywoman who’s also very fun and very funny.”
Elizabeth Banks On Set
Though this isn't Elizabeth Banks' first big gig behind the camera (she also helmed
Pitch Perfect 2), it is the first
Charlie's Angels installment to be directed by a woman.
"It’s a really exciting moment for female-driven films,” she says, citing
Wonder Woman and
Captain Marvel as recent examples of box-office successes.
“Audiences are really looking for those aspirational stories about real and relatable characters, and I think the women in my movie are definitely real and relatable, but most importantly, I think they’re really fun.”
Angels Assemble
Sabina Wilson (Stewart), Jane Kano (Balinska) and Elena Houghlin (Scott) suit-up for action.
Sabina And Bosley
In addition to directing, Banks will also play Bosley... although she won't be the only character with that name.
“‘Bosley’ is now a rank in the organization, like lieutenants,” she says.
“All of the Angels have been played by different women and have had different names, but the Bosley character was always named Bosley no matter who played him. We thought, ‘Well, that must mean it’s more than a name.’”
