CHARLIE'S ANGELS Will Feature Special Cameos From Hailee Steinfeld, Lili Reinhart, Two Olympians & More

While this would've likely been a nice surprise to save for the movie, director Elizabeth Banks has revealed a number of special cameos that will feature in her upcoming Charlie's Angels sequel, which is headlined by Kristen Stewart (Twilight), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) and Ella Balinska (A Modern Tale) as the titular trio of Angels.

The new TV spot confirms that Academy Award-nominee Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee), Lili Reinhart (Riverdale), 3x Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman, Winter Olympics gold medalist Chloe Kim, wrestler Ronda Rousey (Mile 22) and former racecar driver Danica Patrick (CSI: NY) will all cameo as honorary Angels in the upcoming movie.

Further details are currently unavailable, but it seems possible that this skydiving scene may serve as an epilogue of sorts for the film as Scott's character Elena Houghlin, who the trailers have suggested is not an official Angel when the story picks up, is seen undergoing formal training before celebrating with her new friends Sabina Wilson (Stewart) and Jane Kano (Balinska), although that's yet-to-be confirmed.

Additionally, Sony Pictures has debuted twenty new hi-res promotional stills. Keep scrolling to check them out.

In addition to the lead trio, the supporting cast consists of Elizabeth Banks (Spider-Man 3), Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I've Loved Before), Sam Claflin (Me Before You), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Patrick Stewart (Logan), Luis Gerardo Mendez (Murder Mystery), Jonathan Tucker (Westworld), Chris Pang (Crazy Rich Asians), and Nat Faxon (Disenchantment).

Some good actresses for cameos, guessing a potential angels or another team of angels. For fans, hopefully it's good. Me, I have no connection to this franchise and will skip it.

I don't think I understand the mindset of Hollywood studios. Aside from Mission Impossible, are any of these movie remakes of cheesy TV series actually functional blockbuster franchises? And MI itself struggled to find a footing as a franchise at first, only buoyed by Tom Cruise's last and purest injection of 90's action star charisma.

Is there any actual reason to believe that anyone wants to watch a new Quincy M.E. or Gentle Ben? There may be a niche market for procedurals on TV and why not call it Magnum P.I., I get that. But when you're looking at big budget movies that need throngs of people coming to the theater, this all of this seems to be chasing a brand awareness that doesn't actually help.

But brand awareness isn't all that important. Look at John Wick. They've made an extremely successful mid-budget film franchise based on a fairly unremarkable premise with zero established brand. All it takes is a memorable hook (in Wick's case, it's just a particular style of fight scene).

In the case of comics and some particular nerd shit, I get the power of the brand. There are dorks like me who will line up to love a remake of some obscure sci-fantasy bullshit from their childhood. But were there ever Charlie's Angels superfans? Or were there just casual TV-viewers with limited options?

There's nothing special about Charlie's Angels as a franchise like there is for Transformers or He-Man or whatever. It's just live-action sexy detectives/spies, like any of a dozen other series. It seems to me you could create a new brand (one that intrigues people rather than invites their baggage).

@Spock0Clock -

Well said, sometimes it feels like they just slap the name on it with very little to do with the original premise.

@Spock0Clock - I know this isn't the best or most reliable indicator, but LGBT+ Twitter is going crazy for this movie, specially Stewart from what I've seen. Add in some of the female market and you're good to go with an audience for it, they just need to get them into the theater seats.

@8thDoctor - I honestly hope for the best for this movie (I like pretty much everyone involved and I think it looks like it's pretty much the best possible version of a Charlie's Angels movie you could make in 2019). If it does well, that's great.

But I just think don't think the Charlie's Angels brand adds anything to it.

If Cameron Diaz, Drew Barimore and Lucy Liu aren't making cameo appearances then I don't care.

I mean I didn't care either way but I don't care.

(Hailee Steinfeld is cool though)

I really don’t see this being a big hit at all, it’s nice they trying to reboot it, but in today’s world is Charlie’s Angles really something that’ll crack the audience? Well at least it’s not on the nose as Ghostbusters 2016,
By the way Sony well done for spoiling the cameos hahahaha

Let someone like Quentin Tarantino write, and direct a Charlie's Angels movie, and you might have something interesting.
