Yesterday's posters gave us a first look at Jonathan Majors as the movie's mysterious new antagonist, Damian Anderson, and the first trailer for Creed III allows us to witness Adonis Creed's latest opponent in action.
The teaser (via ActionNewz.com) finds Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) riding high on his success, but his past catches up to him in a big way when an old friend (we're assuming Adonis had something to do with his arrest) gets out of prison after an 18-year stint behind bars and positions himself as Creed's next challenger.
The Creed movies never really set out to reinvent the wheel, but the first two were very effective in the action/drama stakes, and this latest instalment looks to be every bit as hard-hitting.
Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think.
After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.
Jordan also stepped behind the camera for the first time to helm this third instalment in the boxing drama franchise. Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad will reprise their respective roles, but Sylvester Stallone will not be back as Rocky Balboa.
Zach Baylin and Keenan Coogler penned the script.
Produced by Irwin Winkler, p.g.a., Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Elizabeth Raposo, Jonathan Glickman, and Sylvester Stallone, Creed III is set to hit theaters on March 3, 2023.
