Daniel Craig Closing In On Deal To Play 'James Bond' In FIVE More Movies?

A new report claims that a multi-million pound deal will see Skyfall star Daniel Craig return as Ian Fleming's 'James Bond' in five more movies (a total of eight) and one more than Roger Moore, whose 7 appearances spanned 12 years.

The People report that Daniel Craig has been offered a multi-million pound deal to star in a further five James Bond movies after 2012's Sam Mendes helmed Skyfall. Producer Michael G. Wilson told the tabloid: "Daniel’s been a terrific Bond, a superb actor and a terrific man. The fans love him and I don’t think there’s a better actor to play the part."

However, they may have jumped the gun a little as he confirmed that this isn't anywhere near being a done deal. Instead, "It’s certainly something we’ll be discussing with him once we finish shooting Skyfall. Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures. Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream," he said.

The odds of Craig deciding to sign up for a further five movie seem highly unlikely. At 43, a deal such as this one would would mean he'd be committed to playing the iconic British spy for another decade or more. While it's possible we may see him back as Bond after Skyfall, whether or not he will ever beat Sir Roger Moore's record is uncertain. Filming is currently ongoing and Skyfall will be released worldwide from October 2012.

god no, I love his version of Bond and all, but I think that after SkyFall he should just do one more and give the chance to someone younger, like Fassbender for example.

I think it would be great if such a deal works out. Would love to see them explore the character as he ages. Think it could add depth to stories. And when Craigs' run reaches its eventual end...reboot.

If I wanted to see no quips or gadgets I'd watch the Bourne movies which does 'realistic', 'humourless' and 'gritty' far better. I hated QoS, absolutely ****ing HATED it!

Craig's been a great Bond and I wouldn't mind a couple more films after Skyfall, but I wanna see Michael Fassbender take over before he's too old. Christian Bale would be good too.

5 more's a bit too much, maybe if he was half a decade younger. Wouldn't mind maybe another 2, depending on how quickly and skillfully they could be produced, and also if Skyfall's any good. But yeah, I'm jumping on the bandwagon. When Daniel's time as Bond is up, Michael Fassbender should step in.

This'll be possible if they start asap and shit out a movie every two years. If they wait four years between every one like QoS and Skyfall, it's gonna get really uncomfortable watching an old ass man getting his ass kicked for two hours, much like the discomfort I felt while watching it happen to Indiana Jones in KotCS. I mean, I'm sure a lot of us have wanted to punch a 65 year old man before, but ya don't do it. Right?

I say give him a couple more. after Skyfall. Daniel Craig is a great Bond, and imo, the best so far. But when he's done, I agree that Michael Fassbender should take over. He's a great actor too, and can also do justice to 007.

I don't know, Tom Cruise is, what, 49 and he managed to do Ghost Protocol. No reason that Daniel Craig can't keep it up for a little while longer. However, I don't really want him to beat Roger Moore's record. Why? Because Moore was clearly the best Bond...nah, sorry, even I can't say that with a straight face. I love Roger but Daniel Craig has been the best thing to happen to Bond since Sean Connery.

Let me just say I have loved the Bond movies since I was little & Daniel's portrayal of James Bond is brilliant, just what the franchise needed after the godawful CGI infested Die Another Day

But saying that, FIVE MORE MOVIES is a BIG mistake. First of all, even if they make a new movie every two years from 2012 onwards, he will be 54 when he finishes up with the role, much too old for being in the role

That means they are repeating the mistakes of the past again. This happened with Roger Moore and he looked WAY TOO OLD when he came to the end of his run.

I would love to see Daniel do another trilogy because when it comes to the time where he has to leave, he will only be around Pierce Brosnan's age of 50 when he left the role and at 50, Pierce Brosnan was still good in the role but it was time for him to leave

So, let Daniel do another trilogy with movies being released in 2014, 2016 & then in 2018 & then aim for a new Bond movie with a brand new Bond actor in 2021 when Daniel is beginning to be too old for the role

@SHHH & ncreb

God no, unless they do a total reboot (again!), a big no to Idris. He is a fantastic actor & Im not trying to be racist, but James Bond is a white male & if they suddenly change his race, it will make no damn sense. And I dont want another reboot for another 40 years!

@DannyRand401- I agree!!! I would love to see Nolan direct a James Bond film. I don't think Fassbender is a bad actor. I just think Craig still is the best man for the job and will prove again in Skyfall.

dancingmonkey08 - 12/18/2011, 1:52 PM
@DannyRand

[frick] you, Im not a closet racist, Im just saying it would make no [frick]ing sense if James Bond was white in one movie and black in the next

Maybe 40 years down the line, rest the Bond movies for 10 years then reboot them with a black actor and then have a franchise of black Bond. But dont be alternating between black & white Bond because IT WOULD MAKE NO SENSE

And believe me, if Casino Royale had Idris Elba in the role, then I would be completely against a white man taking over the role unless it was a reboot. I just want the [frick]ing movies to make sense

@ yossarian.

Its one of the more annoying things that happen here. People see a newish actor in a comic or genre film they like and all the sudden they start suggesting them for every role they can think of. You start seeing the same 3 or 4 names pop up in every fan cast out there.
