The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the upcoming tenth chapter of the Fast & Furious franchise is going to add another formidable foe for Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto to square off against: Jason Momoa.
While the Guardians of the Galaxy star tried and failed to bring Dwayne Johnson back to the series as Hobbs, the Aquaman star promises to add the necessary star power to the tentatively titled Fast & Furious 10 to keep fans interested. According to the trade, he's likely one of the movie's villains.
We don't have any character or story details beyond that, but Momoa only adds to the already star-studded cast. Alongside Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, and Charlize Theron are all set to return (there's no word on whether we'll see more of John Cena after his memorable turn as Dom's brother). F10 is, however, expected to be the first half of a two-part finale.
Justin Lin will remain in the director's chair after helming last year's F9: The Fast Saga, one of the few movies of the "pandemic era" to be a box office hit in 2021.
As for Momoa, he recently wrapped work on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and has a new Netflix movie on the way later this year, Slumberland, which is described as an epic fantasy (and based on Winsor McCay's comic strip of the same name). The Fast & Furious franchise should give the actor a good opportunity to show his action chops outside the DC Extended Universe.
Fast & Furious 10 is set to be released on May 19, 2023.
