It doesn't sound like the Fast and Furious family will be reuniting for the final two installments of the popular action franchise after all, because Dwayne Johnson has no intention of reprising his role as Lucas Hobbs.
Last month, Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto) shared an Instagram post asking his former costar to let bygones be bygones and rejoin the "Fast Family" for the next movie. He mentioned that his kids think of Johnson as "Uncle Dwayne," and that it was time to fulfill his promise to Pablo (the late Paul Walker) by manifesting "the best Fast in the finale that is 10!"
Johnson didn't immediately respond, but has now firmly rejected Diesel's offer during an interview with CNN.
“I told [Diesel] directly that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return,” Johnson explained. “Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding.”
Now that it's come to light that the pair already had this conversation, it really doesn't reflect well on Diesel at all, and it's completely understandable if the Black Adam star wants nothing to do with any franchise he's a part of. Of course, some still believe this is all part of some elaborate ruse and Johnson will ultimately return as Hobbs, but we seriously doubt it.
