Michael Rooker’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be over, but the
Guardians of the Galaxy actor will soon be joining another massive franchise, as he gets to star in the next installment of the
Fast & Furious series.
Per a new report from
Deadline, Rooker has been cast as a character named Buddy in
Fast & Furious 9. No other details are available on his role, but he joins an impressive ensemble that already includes the likes of Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, and Helen Mirren
While fans won't see a new installment of the main film series hit theaters this year, the Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham-led spin-off,
Hobbs & Shaw, was released earlier this month and has gone on to gross more than a $330 million worldwide.
Fast & Furious 9 is scheduled to race into theaters on May 22, 2020 and will see
Furious 6 director Justin Lin return to helm the latest film in the franchise.
