Will the Fast & Furious franchise save theaters? Christopher Nolan once hoped Tenet would be able to preserve that big screen experience, and while the world is slowly beginning to open back up, the fate of multiplexes remains uncertain.

In this new promo for F9: The Fast Saga, star Vin Diesel makes it clear that he hopes this blockbuster will herald "Our Return to Theaters."

"It's been a while. The roads were a little empty. Places where we used to gather went quiet. We've gone through a year that tested us," the actor says. "But we're starting to see the promise of a new day. For more there a hundred years, there's one place where we all came together to be entertained. To escape, to go someplace new. The movies."

"There's nothing like that moment when the lights go down. The projector ignites. And we believe. After staying apart for so long, it's time to come back together. To laugh, to cheer. We're ready to make you believe again. Cause nobody does a comeback like the movies. We'll see you soon."

In F9: The Fast Saga, Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon.

This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (played by former WWE Superstar and The Suicide Squad star John Cena).

The movie also stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang, with Oscar winners Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. F9 also features Grammy-winning superstar Cardi B as new franchise character Leysa, a woman with a connection to Dom’s past, and a cameo by Reggaeton sensation Ozuna.

@bkmeijer - It's not about saving theatres, it's only about one thing.

In one of this movies Diesel's white t-shirt will actually get dirty or scuffed from all shit he goes through, and that is when you'll know it's the last movie of the series.
