Following Lucasfilm's recent announcements that Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story), Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age of Ultron; Penny Dreadful: City of Angels) and Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) will be joining Harrison Ford in James Mangold's upcoming Indiana Jones movie, we have word on two more key cast members.

According to Deadline, Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther, The Resident) and Boyd Holbrook (Logan, The Predator) will both be joining the intrepid archaeologist on his latest adventure. No details on their roles were provided, and the plot of this fifth installment in the long-running franchise is also under wraps.

Holbrook will be best known for his villainous turn in Logan, but he's also appeared in the likes of The Predator and Narcos. More recently, he donned a cape for Netflix's superhero flick We Can Be Heroes. Wilson, meanwhile, was a fixture on Fox's The Resident before departing the show after its fourth season, and she also appeared as one of the Dora Milaje in Black Panther.

Logan director James Mangold is taking the helm, and it's also been confirmed that John Williams will return as composer. Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers.

The still untitled Indiana Jones 5 will swing into theaters July 29, 2022.

Cast for this is promising. Hope they're not wasted in a bad movie.

@ModHaterSLADE - I agree. I think Boyd would make a nice replacement for Indy if he an ally.

I'm debating whether I want him to be Mutt or not.

James Mangold became the go to director for sendoff movies. First Logan and now this.

@Urubrodi - don't forget Predator. That one still counts. And hurts.

The more practical the better, keep your cgi forest and monkeys away from Indy! June 10th is the 4k box set release day, I've been waiting for a thousand years!

Oh, I really loved her on The Resident as Dr. Mina Okafor, she was one of the fave characters on that show, excellent chemistry with Dr. AJ Austin. Awesome actress, love her accent. She is quite a tall too especially standing next to Emily Vancamp. And in my opinion, she would be so perfect in so many ways as Storm in an MCU X-Men movie.

Boyd Holbrook needs to be in more leading roles for movies/shows. He is very underrated.

@Menks123 - apart from logan the only thing I have seen him in is narcos and he was deadly in that

They might as well just add a casket and a hearse if they don’t hurry up and make this damned movie.

Wonder who's gonna play the villain in this. My guess is Mikkelsen's and Waller-Bridge's character are gonna be on Indy's team (kinda hoping to see Sallah and/or Short Round return too), so maybe Holbrook's the villain. That's something I can see happen

@bkmeijer - I'd prefer Mikkelsen as an ambiguous enigma who you don't know if you should trust or not. He has the ability to be both incredibly charming and likable but also, of course, off-putting and creepy.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 5/15/2021, 4:41 AM
@demery - that would be perfect for Mikkelsen, but I can wanna see him his as this accidental mumbling and tumbling antagonist too. He's on Indy's side and has good intentions, but everything he does just worsens the situation

If my calculations are still correct, the movie will take place in 1971.

@MasterMix - I'm kinda hoping for 1963 or something like that. Anything after that cannot take place in a time of a space-race, when we know aliens are real in that universe in my opinion

Everything about this film is great so far. I hope Ford actually gives a damn and acts the hell out of the script, he' electric when he puts in the effort.

Holbrook as an older Labeouf?

Are we thinking the torch gets passed in this one? Not necessarily that Indiana Jones dies but maybe this hands off for a spin-off franchise or something?

Feels like if Harrison Ford were younger we could have had two or three more movies cranked out in recent years. I also assume we can't look to Shia's character to take up the mantle either...

@Turtlestrong - I feel like this movie will be nothing more than spin-off bait.

I think 3 or 4 characters are being lined up to takeover the mantle and the producers will just see which one the audience responds to.
