Deadline has confirmed that Abbie Cornish is finally set to reprise her role as Cathy Mueller in the recently announced fourth season of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, which stars John Krasinski (A Quiet Place; The Office) in the title role.
She last appeared in the first season finale, before sitting out the entire second season, although it's possible she could appear in season three, which has been shrouded in mystery. Her absence wasn't explained in the show, but considering Ryan was single when the last season picked up, it's fair to assume they broke up. With her return now official, it seems probable that her and Ryan will soon find their way back to one another as she is his eventual wife in the book series.
In addition to Krasinski, she joins Wendell Pierce (The Wire; Suits) and Michael Kelly (Man of Steel; House of Cards), who are both also expected to return for season four as James Greer and Mike November, respectively. Michael Peña (Ant-Man; Ant-Man and the Wasp) has also joined the cast in an undisclosed series regular role.
As for the aforementioned third season, a premiere date is expected to be announced relatively soon, but it's unclear whether it will debut before the end of this year or early next. The official season three synopsis reads,
"Season 3 of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan finds Jack Ryan (Krasinski) on the run and in a race against time. Jack is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy and suddenly finds himself a fugitive out in the cold. Now, wanted by both the CIA and an international rogue faction that he has uncovered, Jack is forced underground, crisscrossing Europe, trying to stay alive and prevent a massive global conflict."
Newcomers for season three include Betty Gabriel (Get Out; Westworld), James Cosmo (His Dark Materials; Braveheart), Peter Guinness (Zack Snyder's Justice League; Alien3), Nina Hoss (Little Sister; A Most Wanted Man), and Alexej Manvelov (Chernobyl; Before We Die).
