MGM is announcing that "BOND 23" is set to go into production in late 2011. Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions, together with Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, the Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., today announced that the 23rd James Bond film will have a worldwide release on November 9, 2012.

Daniel Craig will be returning as the legendary British secret agent, with Sam Mendes directing a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. That script is being kept under wraps. The reason for the 007 delay is because it took that long for MGM's future to sort itself out what with the failed auction sale of the studio, then the pre-packaged bankruptcy getting approval, and eventually Spyglass taking over studio filmmaking.

I'm not sure about you guys, but I for one am extremely glad to hear this! As a big Bond fan (the books and recent films especially) it's great to hear that the British spy will be heading back to the big screen the same year as other fantastic looking movies like The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and Spider-Man!

It's about [frick]ing time. :) I enjoyed Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace equally, so am very excited about them continuing the story established in those two.

However, these recent Bond movies are still no match for the Bourne ones. I'd be even more pleased with the announcement that they were doing another one of those with Matt Damon instead of the crappy sounding prequel/reboot/whatever.

YAY!!!!

Casino Royale is my favorite Bond film in a series that littered with hit's and misses. (although with what, over 20? totally to be expected) I'm a huge Bond fan and find Quantum to be a frustrating film that doesn't live up to its predecessor. But to have Craig back for another go with Mendes directing is fantastic news! made my day.

I am very excite for this. I think Daniel Craig does a fantastic job as Bond and can't wait to see them continue making Bond films. Does anyone know if this is Craig's last Bond film? I thought I heard that rumor somewhere on the web.

@kyrekurcubic: Just because he is signed on for 3 more movies doesn't mean he will be in three more movies. Anything can happen that could change the contract deal.
@MsKyle08: It's only been since 2008.

Finally!:) I cant wait to see where the next movie takes our revengeful Bond!:)

Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, Stellan Skarsgård, Jason Isaacs, Iain Glen or Michael Nyqvist would make a great bad guy for the third film!:D They all are great actors and got that menacing look!

About [frick]ing time! I've been a fan of Bond's since a was a little kid. Never read the books but I have read some of the comics. I was a little skeptical when Craig was picked for Casino Royale but he has turned out to be a great Bond. I hope he'll return for at least one more after #23.

Casino Royale & Quantum of Solace! lol And I was just saying to my friend, I hope there would be news about the next Bond movie soon?! And lo and behold, I come onto CBM now and Josh, you have answered my prayers, thanks for that Josh!

Cant wait for Bond 23! Its gonna be great, as long as Daniel Craig gets to complete his trilogy, I will be happy!

And omg, Bond joins the Avengers, Batman and Superman in 2012, 2012 is gonna blow our [frick]ing minds! Lets hope all four movies are the best!

oh and cant wait to see Daniel Craig in Cowboys & Aliens, it looks good

@Lucaxmen
OMG, you are right! I never realised that it was the fiftieth anniversary. What a great way to celebrate it, lets hope Bond 23 is a Bond movie of the highest quality!

@Technoman
I heard that Daniel Craig wanted to introduce both Q and Moneypenny in this new Bond movie so it would be great to see them for the first time in the rebooted franchise
