JAMES BOND 24 Titled SPECTRE; Cast, Story Details, And First Poster Revealed

Skyfall was the first Bond movie to hit $1 billion at the box office, so to call the sequel one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2015 is pretty accurate. The title, plot & cast have been revealed.

Casino Royale really turned the James Bond franchise around, especially as the movies had become more far-fetched, silly, and out of touch over the years. Quantum of Solace was a disappointment, but Skyfall took 007 and gave him perhaps his best movie to date. Sam Mendes returning to helm another instalment in this storied franchise was met with a sigh of relief from fans, and now the first details about Spectre (a title which should help it sit nicely alongside Skyfall on your alphabetised shelf of Blu-rays) have been revealed at a press event earlier today in the UK.

You can rewatch the press conference below, but the press release contains the official cast list and the first brief plot synopsis for Spectre. It's a great list of actors, and the addition of Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Lea Sydoux (Blue is the Warmest Colour), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Andrew Scott (Sherlock) is particularly exciting. Not a fan of any of them? (seriously?!) Well, you must be looking forward to seeing the newly created Aston Martin DB10 at least!

James Bond Producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today released the title of the 24th James Bond adventure, SPECTRE.  The film, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is directed by Sam Mendes and stars Daniel Craig, who returns for his fourth film as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007.  SPECTRE begins principal photography on Monday, December 8, and is set for global release on November 6, 2015.

Along with Daniel Craig, Mendes presented the returning cast, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear as well as introducing Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Andrew Scott.  Mendes also revealed Bond’s sleek new Aston Martin, the DB10, created exclusively for SPECTRE.

A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

The 007 production will be based at Pinewood Studios, and on location in London, Mexico City, Rome and Tangier and Erfoud, in Morocco.  Bond will return to the snow once again, this time in Sölden, along with other Austrian locations, Obertilliach, and Lake Altaussee.

Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, “We’re excited to announce Daniel’s fourth installment in the series and thrilled that Sam has taken on the challenge of following on the success of SKYFALL with SPECTRE.”.

Written by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, Director of Photography is Hoyte van Hoytema and Editor is Lee Smith.  Production Designer, Dennis Gassner returns along with Costume Designer, Jany Temime and Composer, Thomas Newman.  Action Specialist, Alexander Witt is the 2nd Unit Director.  Stunt Coordinator is Gary Powell, SFX Supervisor is Chris Corbould, and Visual Effects Supervisor is Steve Begg.

Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond film, was a worldwide box office phenomenon, opening #1 in 70 territories around the world, taking over $1.1 billion worldwide and setting a new all-time box office record in the UK by becoming the first film to take over £100 million.

The launch of SPECTRE was streamed live on 007.com and Facebook.com/JamesBond007, and the video is now available on demand at both sites.

Awwww I feel bad for Batman001...he was trying to fix it!

On a different note: I love how the gunshot forms the CLASSIC SPECTRE LOGO!

Yay! I can't wait to see Bond back in action against his archnemesis!!! I wonder if SPECTRE will have ties to QUANTUM in this film...?!? Bond really grows on you as you get older lol..

Now who's doing the song?? Better be "Bondy" enough.. Fingers crossed..

Strange bit of irony: Man with the Golden Gun JUST started on my TV! It's a sign lol

Oberhauser hey...?? they must've meant BLOFELD.

Anyway...no surprise in the cast, except for Bellucci. is she gonna be playing a Bond's ex, like Teri Hatcher did in Tomorrow Never Knows, or what..?? cuz, as a Bond gurl, ain't she a wee bit too past her time already..?? i mean, she's still hot n all, i guess, but, out of ALL the hot n talented YOUNGER actresses out there now, couldn't EON's picked somebody else..?? i'd much rather go with someone like Jennifer Connelly or Kate Beckinsale, if they do wanna go with someone OLDER. but Bellucci...?? hmm...in GoldenEye, she would've been an amazing Bond Girl..but that was back in Nineteen-95.

They hired Bautista to be an iconic henchman...I wonder what the filmmakers are going to do to make him memorable..?

He's already been solid brass and a bright green murderer with body art, maybe he'll get some crazy deformity in this one too!!!

Sam Mendes is fantastic. His Skyfall/Spectre one-two could go down as one of the greatest duologies of all time.

Great cast, except for Daniel Craig. Could use some new writers too. I'm afraid this will suffer the fate of Skyfall--highly overrated and poorly written snooze-fest with only a few redeeming qualities, none of which are Daniel Craig or Javier Bardem.

I wonder how much the success that Marvel was having with SHIELD and Hydra influenced the decision to revive Bond's nemesis organization. I suppose we'll see if the "terrible truth" behind SPECTER happens to be that it is within MI6...
grif

David Bautista getting the roles like a mother [frick]er now. i bet it would have been offered to the rock lol.

i really hope spectre wont be some kind of black ops faction of mi6 trying to take over the world.

political bullshit with trying to keep the doors to mi6 open? again? we just saw that movie.

BoneSawIsReady - 12/4/2014, 5:19 AM
from the description above I hope they don't have a hail hydra type moment where mi6 was infiltrated from the beginning.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 12/4/2014, 5:22 AM
The terrible truth behind Spectre is that they are the organisation that trains the different Bond's... e.g. there are multiple people who have taken the name Bond over the years ;)
Scarilian
Scarilian - 12/4/2014, 5:23 AM
But in honesty chances are it's the same plot as the last few bond films... :/ It'll be that Spectre is secretly working within MI6 and that the leader behind Spectre is actually a high-ranking govermental figure who turns the whole group against Bond.
