John Logan Finalising Deal To Write Two Connecting JAMES BOND Films

Deadline reports that Skyfall producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson have made a deal with John Logan (the writer responsible for 007's latest outing and critically acclaimed films such as Gladiator and Hugo) to write the next two films in the James Bond franchise. He reportedly pitched a two-movie arc to them during production on Skyfall, and this would thereby make them the first Bond films to feature a connecting storyline. While Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace arguably already did this, it's fair to assume that this will be more of a direct continuation (telling one overarching story). The site go on to speculate that this could mean they'l shoot back-to-back, but it's still very early days at this point.

Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

STARRING:

Daniel Craig as James Bond
Javier Bardem as ?????
Judi Dench as M
Ralph Fiennes as ?????
Albert Finney as ?????
Naomie Harris as Eve
Bérénice Marlohe as Sévérine
Ben Whishaw as Q

Wasn't Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace vaguely connected? Because Vesper Lynd is the 'Girl' in Casino Royale, and the last scene of QoS was Bond finding Vesper's ex-lover - who was also indirectly responsible for her death

But yeah, this sounds great!

Hardly the first. On Her Majesty's Secret Service lead directly into Diamonds are Forever and Casino Royale continued right into Quantum of Solace.

Bond 23 - Tracey and probably the return of Quantum or another Pseudo-Spectre
Bond 24 - Vengence boom bang kill boom.

Bond franchise is ALWAYS reactive. Moonraker after Star Wars, CR after Batman Begins, Now that they have Craig locked for 2 more films they will shoot for a "Final" Chapter for Craig's Bond after Nolan did this in TDKR.

John Logan is an excellent writer, but the last to bond movies needs to be based on Fleming's novels, i think Christopher Nolan or Shane Black could make a good Bond-movie.

Sorry Josh, do you watch Bond films at all?

Casino Royale and Quantam of Solace were directly connected.

From Russian with love is indeed also a sequel to Dr.No and is connected.

i hope they at least put in two main villains (one to defeat per film), i'd hate to walk out of the first one, with nothing resolved, and feeling like i'm being made to pay twice for one film.

I'm excited by this, although I feel that Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace did this already, the Craig Bond films are all so awesome I hope these final two have him leave with a bang! And then time for Idris Elba!

I like sound of this. And like other people have mentioned, this has been done twice.

I'm not sure I want the movies shooting back to back though. Sometimes that could be the kiss of death.

Everything is running on such a tight schedule it could end up affecting the final product.

I kindda want to argue this point but can't. QoS WAS a sequel to casino royale and the only reasons anyone can think of to the contrary are ultimately down to how poorly it was executed.

this HAS been done before. Badly. Perhaps we can hope for better, especially if they can get Mendes to sign for a trilogy.
