For our final presentation of the week, we have Lionsgate, who will be centering their presentation around John Wick: Chapter 4! Plus, we should also get Borderlands and Expendables 4 footage!

For our seventh and final presentation of the week, we have Lionsgate, and while their theatrical slate is smaller than most, they do have one title in their arsenal that should have CinemaCon oohing and aahing: John Wick: Chapter 4

While the Keanu Reeves-led actioner should be the headliner of their annual presentation, we should also be getting fresh footage from Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables 4 and Eli Roth's video game movie adaptation Borderlands. Both are currently undated, so hopefully, their first looks come with release dates.

The Rachel McAdams-starrer Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret should also get a heavy push and there's a good chance they bring out something for Kevin Smith's Clerks III as well. One film we're unlikely to see, however, is Jennifer Lopez's Shotgun Wedding, which recently moved to Prime Video.

Follow along below for all the biggest updates and leave your comments in the usual space!

Expendables 1 was a fun watch, but the sequels were meh. Hopefully the 4th movie is more interesting.

@ModHaterSLADE - but the sequels were much better, stronger, and more enjoyable than the first film.

@ModHaterSLADE - first was good but id say the second one was better, its dumb but it really gave people what they wanted out of a classic action star team up

With the first all the old guys except stallone, their roles were pretty minor

Only good thing about 3 was Stallone and Gibson. Once again the old guys are underused and some of them are just annoying this time and nobody cared about the newbies

@ModHaterSLADE - the second was the best IMO

These John Wick movies are just as bad as the fast and furious ones at this point. Please stop making them.

@JobinJ - It takes a very very wrong opinion to make me hate it. And yours is one of them. Fortunately you have zero say in Hollywood and I'm grateful for that. So yes. Carry on.

@JobinJ - John Wick > Fast and Furious

John Wick has been an amazing series of action films

@JobinJ - 3rd one was the weakest.

Still better than most action flicks around.

@Fogs - I agree! The second one had too much going on! They were doing too much world building.

@SonOfAGif - Sorry man these movies are just terrible. The first one was good. Now this guy with no superpowers can go into a room of 50 guys with machine guns and somehow killed them all without a scratch. It’s so dumb and so unrealistic.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 4/28/2022, 7:57 PM
@JobinJ - It was unrealistic the moment he escaped his confinement in the first film. They aren't meant to be realistic and definitely flirt with fantasy

@JobinJ - watch COMMANDO

It's a lot of fun

Outside of the John Wick films and Knives Out, Lionsgate’s output in recent years hasn’t been that good. They kind of fizzled out after the last Hunger Games movie. Hopefully they can bounce back.

Hope John Wick 4 is more like the first and second John Wick than the third one.

The original Top Gun, while iconic, is not one of Cruise's strongest films in my opinion (there are just so many better films of his, to me; outside of Born on the 4th of July, I would say the rest of his top films came post 2000). But I am very much excited for Top Gun: Maverick, it looks like an absolutely amazing experience.

@HeavyMetal4Life - it's definitely not a strong movie, but definitely a fun one. I'm hoping this one will be too, because it does indeed look like an amazing experience

@bkmeijer1 - it looks like they have Ghost Protocolled Top Gun, in the sense that Ghost Protocol began a new chapter and presentation of MI and what it means to be a MI movie. The Maverick trailers have a very modern Tom Cruise action feel to them that is constantly pushing the boundaries like each of the past 3 MI films have.

@HeavyMetal4Life - yeah it definitely does feel like it. Wonder if it does well, we'll get more sequels

Expendables 4 is suppose to be Stallone’s last one, the. Statham will take over

Honestly dont see it work continuing after Stallone is gone. The 80’s action guys are the main draw

Doubt Statham will be fighting people from the 80’s

Statham isnt even a 90’s guy he is a 2000’s guy

Everyone worth bringing in from the 2000’s is already in fast and furious

@dracula - id rather watch Crank 3, it's been a while since a unapologetic character like chev chelios, they better round out the trilogy before statham gets older

Expendables and John Wick will be fun flicks to watch, but I'm really looking forward to Borderlands. Even though the premise and Avi Arad don't inspire much confidence. Guess that if I want to he excited for returning to Pandora, I should wait for Tales of the Borderlands 2

Ah, I really hope this Borderlands movie is good. An action comedy with Claptrap has so much potential.
