Kiefer Sutherland Would Still Be Interested In Playing Jack Bauer In 24: THE MOVIE
Kiefer Sutherland may still be interested in bringing the CTU agent to the big screen, but does it really make a difference when the studio clearly aren't? Hit the jump to read his comments on reprising the role he played for eight seasons on television.
24: The Movie was supposed to begin production last year, but Kiefer Sutherland's commitment to Touch (and the fact that Fox offered him a paltry $1 million to reprise the role of Jack Bauer) meant that the film was delayed until 2013. Here we are though and nothing has happened. In fact, it now seems increasingly unlikely that we will ever see the counter terrorist tough guy's story brought to a satisfying conclusion on the big screen. In a recent interview with The Sun, the actor had this to say about whether he's still interested. "I want to make the 24 movie as long as I can run — and last week I figured out I still could. I had to chase someone for the first time in a very long time and when we finished the scene, one of the crew said with a wink: 'That felt pretty familiar didn’t it? Kind of cool to watch you run again. I didn’t know if you could any more.'" He may say he's interested, but it's worth noting that he quickly changed the subject. The fact is, the studio don't seem all that keen, and as it has now been a good few years since 24 was on TV, it's hard to imagine that the interest in seeing this happen from moviegoers is anywhere near enough to guarantee that the film finds an audience. As Jack Bauer would say: "Dammit!"
