To mark the review aggregator's 25th anniversary, Rotten Tomatoes recently sent out over 10,000 ballots to its certified critics, asking them to pick their five favourite films of the past quarter-century.
The results are now in, and critics voted George Miller's post-apocalyptic masterpiece, Mad Max: Fury Road, as the best movie of the past 25 years.
Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite came in second; David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive third; Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight fourth, and Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire rounded out the top five.
Fury Road taking the top spot really isn't too surprising, since it's still widely viewed as one of the greatest action movies of all time (it holds a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes). Miller has previously shown interested in helming a sequel, but whether he'll be able to get Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron back on the same set remains to be seen!
A prequel focusing on a younger version of Theron's character, Furiosa, is on the way, with Anya Taylor-Joy taking over as the formidable wasteland warrior.
