Hayley Atwell Confirms She'll Be In Both MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 & MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 8 As The Female Lead

After Chris McQuarrie announced last week that the fan-favorite actress Hayley Atwell (Avengers: Endgame; Captain America: The First Avenger) had joined the Mission: Impossible franchise, Atwell has now confirmed that she's signed on for a leading role opposite Tom Cruise (Top Gun: Maverick) in both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8.

The back half of her Instagram message from last night reads, "...I’m thrilled to have joined @tomcruise and @christophermcquarrie for the next TWO Mission Impossible movies. To have gone from a classical play in the west-end to an audio book recording of a great new novel to a Disney/Marvel animation and now the female lead in a huge action franchise is the kind of variety that fuels my curiosity and keeps me learning and striving to be better and do better. I can’t wait to start sharing this adventure with you. Mostly in the form of effusive, sweaty ranting about stunt training while spontaneously vomiting with excitement/exhaustion. Lucky you."

While Atwell confirms that she's signed on to play "the female lead in a huge action franchise," it's likely she'll be one of two female leads in the film as Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Fallout) is also widely expected to reprise her role as Ilsa Faust for the highly-anticipated action sequels.

As for the rest of the cast, no one has been confirmed just yet, but expect to see some combination of Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Angela Bassett, Vanessa Kirby, Michelle Monaghan, Maggie Q, Paula Patton and/or Sean Harris appear in the upcoming two-parter, which will film back-to-back starting early next year.

Mission: Impossible 7 is due out in theaters on July 23, 2021 while Mission: Impossible 8 is expected to light the fuse in theaters on August 5, 2022.

I had a go at a ‘photo grid’ in an attempt to display some tech-savvy-millennial skills. For those of you who don’t know, this involves nine separate posts loaded one at a time which only come together as a complete image when someone views the profile page. Some of the comments were of the ‘wot-is-goin-on-u-can’t-frame-a-picture, mate’ variety SO, to ease the confusion, here is my news in one post..... I’m thrilled to have joined @tomcruise and @christophermcquarrie for the next TWO Mission Impossible movies. To have gone from a classical play in the west-end to an audio book recording of a great new novel to a Disney/Marvel animation and now the female lead in a huge action franchise is the kind of variety that fuels my curiosity and keeps me learning and striving to be better and do better. Can't wait for McQ to deliver us more cinematic gold with MI 7 and 8, and Hayley Atwell's involvement is the icing on a very delicious cake :-)

If you were to choose between Rebecca Ferguson and Haley Atwell who would you choose?

Don't say both.

I thought it would have been interesting to see her play a villain and how she would do outside of her comfort zone but I am excited she has joined the franchise anyway.
