MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING PART ONE - New Featurette Spotlights The Film's Dangerous AI Villain

As Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One races toward the $500M mark, Paramount has released a thrilling new featurette, spotlighting the film's devastating new AI villain, The Entity!

With Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One having been out in theaters for nearly a month, it looks like it's finally safe to talk about the film's dangerous AI villain, The Entity, as Paramount Pictures has released an awesome new featurette spotlighting what went behind bringing the deadly AI to life, while also possibly teasing what's to come in Part Two.

Following a roaring start, Dead Reckoning Part One has cooled off quite a bit at the box office due to the buzzsaw that was "Barbenheimer" as it was forced to give up premium screens - including IMAX - to Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, but it's still performing quite admirably and should be crossing the $500 million milestone before the end of the week.

While it's no guarantee, we'd imagine - or, at least, we hope - Dead Reckoning Part One will be re-released in premium formats at some point before the end of the summer, if not by the end of the year, as it's undoubtedly one of the most entertaining films of the year and deserves to be seen on the biggest and most beautiful screens imaginable.

Plus, with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there's an increasing probability that several Fall tentpoles will get delayed into next year, so it would certainly be a welcome sight to see Tom Cruise's latest critically acclaimed blockbuster get an extended re-release that helps keep theaters afloat through the winter months.

In our review, we said, "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is the undisputed blockbuster movie event of the summer! Tom Cruise delivers yet another action movie masterpiece, packed with jaw-dropping spectacle, pulse-pounding action, heartfelt emotion, awe-inspiring performances, and an exhilarating chemistry opposite new leading lady Hayley Atwell that’ll have you begging for more."

Check out the "Taking On AI" featurette below:

In addition to Tom Cruise (Ethan Hunt), the cast features Hayley Atwell (Grace), Ving Rhames (Luther Stickell), Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn), Rebecca Ferguson (Ilsa Faust), Vanessa Kirby (Alanna Mitsopolis/White Widow), Esai Morales (Gabriel), Pom Klementieff (Paris), Mariela Garriga (Marie), Henry Czerny (Eugene Kittridge), Shea Whigham (Jasper Briggs), Greg Tarzan Davis (Degas), Charles Parnell, Frederick Schmidt (Zola Mitsopolis), Cary Elwes (Denlinger), Mark Gatiss, Indira Varma, and Rob Delaney.

In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan's past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One lights the fuse in theaters on July 12, with the follow-up, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two, set to arrive next year on June 28, 2024.

It’s odd that they’re releasing BTS featurettes for a movie that came out a month ago, and got swiftly buried by Barbie and Oppenheimer. Are they releasing it early on digital maybe? Is that why we’re getting belated promo videos?

Regardless it’s an excellent movie. Better than Fallout IMHO.

@santoanderson - Paramount needs to fix their release dates problem after this and DND underperformed even with fantastic reviews

@MotherGooseUPus - Yeppp. Oppenheimer is the first R-rated EVENT MOVIE since Joker and considering the Mission movies target almost the exact same audience i don’t know what Paramount was thinking. Especially since they put it there to run away from indiana jones… which [frick]ing bombed. Should have just dropped this in May or June

Id say this film was one of the weaker MI films. Not MI2 bad but definitely not in the same area as Fallout, Rogue Nation, and I’ll say even MI3

@Arthorious - Spot on. I consider myself a fan of the franchise, more than a casual viewer, and I agree w/you 100%.

Man Barbinheimer killed this movie’s box office

Oppenheimer is well on its way to 600 million

This hasnt hit 500 million yet

Unless the reported budget of almost 300 million dollars is for both part 1 and 2, this could be the mission impossible series first bomb

Luckily part 2 is already made

@dracula - Part 2 is not already made - it's only 40% shot so far.

Mission Impossible 3 is still the best and hard to top

@KaptainKhaos -

LOL!!!!! It is easily the worst. It also made less money than any other MI movie. It was in the midst of Tom Cruise's personal acting like a jacka$$ phase, and it nearly ended the MI franchise.

@KaptainKhaos - 3 is definitely up there. I mean other than 2 the series has somehow always been great. Not many franchises have as good a record

@DocSpock

War of the Worlds is famously the movie that put a stop to Tom’s publicity tours and not really talking about his personal life, Scientology and his beliefs. Wasn’t MI3.
