Tom Cruise rules once again!

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, the latest installment in his trademark action franchise, has exceeded expectations and opened to an impressive $56 million in North America and another $65 million overseas from forty international markets for a total global collection of $121 million.

The Chris McQuarrie-directed film is currently outpacing the previous installment, Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, by 49% overseas and is yet-to-be released in at least twenty-five markets, including China. For comparison's sake, this summer's other action masterpiece, the George Miller-directed Mad Max: Fury Road, opened to a nice $45 million domestically.

Additionally, here's some more good news: Paramount Pictures vice chairman Rob Moore has more or less corroborated star Tom Cruise's earlier comments concerning Ethan Hunt's next adventure in Mission: Impossible 6, telling Variety: “We’re very happy to be developing this movie with Tom, there’s no question that Ethan Hunt deserves another film.”

Elsewhere, WB's Vacation, which opened Wednesday and was helmed and written by Marvel's new Spider-Man writers Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley, brought in $21.2 million over a five-day stretch.

Check back in tomorrow for updated numbers.

With the IMF disbanded, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, the team now faces off against a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate. These highly trained operatives are hellbent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who may or may not be a member of this rogue nation, as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation will feature:
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
Jeremy Renner as William Brandt
Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn
Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell
Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust
Alec Baldwin as Alan Hunley
Sean Harris as Solomon Lane
Simon McBurney as Attlee
Zhang Jingchu as Lauren
Jens Hultén as Janik "Bone Doctor" Vinter
Tom Hollander as the Prime Minister
America Olivo as Turandot

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation has lit the fuse and is out everywhere NOW!

Probably the best motorcycle chase I've ever seen

Definitely sounds like an enjoyable movie, but unless someone urges me to go with them I guess I'll continue my tradition of not watching MI movies on the big screen.

WB should get him to be Hal Jordan or something. I could see him bringing another level to the stunts in the DCEU. Plus WB could use this as a way for him to be able to do Edge of Tomorrow 2 too.

The climax sucked but the rest of the film was amazing. The plane scene was underwhelming. I thought it would last longer. Pretty boring for it to be given all this hype. The motorcycle scene was ten times better. Best I've ever seen on film. 2nd best action film of the year behind Mad Max Fury Road

Well earned. This series has been fantastic. This one was also considerably great since Ghost Protocol was a tough act to follow.

This movie was freaking awesome, personally its a tie with Ghost Protocol or slightly even better, Cruise and Ferguson would fit well in the DCEU

@clarkman

I can see people getting mad in the beginning, like how much hate Ben got and now a lot of people can't wait to see his version of Batman. So with time people will come around. Plus how many other actors know how to fly a plane? Tom really got to fly the F-14 planes in Top Gun. So you can totally believe he could have been in the Air Force, as Hal Jordan.

What's weird is that people say shit like "the series continues its resurgence" all the time. Resurgence from what? There's really only one bad Mission Impossible movie right.
