In a joint statement, Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions, Bad Robot, and IMAX have officially announced that the blockbuster Mission: Impossible 5, which stars superstar Tom Cruise as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt, will be released worldwide on IMAX screens starting July 31.

Originally, the film was set to arrive Christmas Day, a week after Disney's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but then in a surprise announcement, Paramount revealed that the action sequel had been moved up a few months to late July. The move was praised by many in the industry as it allowed MI5 to not only avoid the highly anticipated Star Wars sequel, but also allowed it to take full advantage of the 338 IMAX screens that it would've missed out on in December.

In the press release, Cruise added: “IMAX is so important in giving the audience the best experience of the film we have made. I am very happy to have this partnership on the next ‘’Mission,'”

This will be Cruise's fifth impossible mission. He'll be reunited with Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie and former cast members Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, & Ving Rhames. Joining the franchise for the first time are Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Simon McBurney, and Zhang Jingchu
