Naomie Harris Confirms Top Secret James Bond Audition

The Pirates Of The Caribbean and 28 Days Later Actress talks about her top secret audition with Sam Mendes and the Bond team.

No official word has been released except that she is in talks to join the 23rd Bond movie in an undisclosed role. In this interview with the BBC, the actress confirms a meeting with Sam Mendes who is directing the next installment and the casting team. More than likely official casting news should follow soon.


All I can say is I’ve met the Bond team, I’ve met Sam Mendes, they’re all wonderful. I’ve auditioned for Bond… My audition was really great actually because it’s so top secret, the whole Bond thing. I hadn’t realised how top secret it was… I’ve auditioned for a lot of things before but never for something where you can’t see the script, it’s that secret… I auditioned with a scene from Quantum of Solace… You don’t know what role you’re going up for either, so everybody gets given a scene from a previous Bond movie.. I don’t know whether it’s true or not that I’m going to be an intelligent Bond girl. I don’t know at all but I’d like it!

I love black women but she's not Bond girl worthy. She's cute in a girl next door sort of way. With names like Pussy Galore, Bond girls need to ooze sex.

Graphic@ but you were assuming that people cared about the color of her skin. How about just reading this as a woman up for this role? Before you said anything, I never made the distinction she was black. She's a woman. Your preface was the problem.

Anyway, I will avoid turning this into a bigger discussion than it needs to be, I think based on the last two bond movies she might be more appropriate to play this role. I think the days of sexed up bond girls is gone. I think they are going for more cerebral woman who can hold their own mentally as well as exude sexiness.
