Below, we have a couple of different photos from two anticipated action films. First up, a cool new still image of Jamie Foxx (Ray) as the titular character in Quentin Tarantino's highly anticipated Western movie Django Unchained, which also stars Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Bastards), Leonardo DiCaprio (Inception) and Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel's The Avengers). The film will be released in theaters this Christmas. Below is the official plot synopsis:

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, “Django Unchained” stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…

Additionally, Coming Soon has debuted a new set photo from Paramount Pictures' Jack Ryan reboot, which will serve as a prequel to the Tom Clancy novels. The following image (which is from the first day of shooting in Manhattan) features our first look at Chris Pine (Star Trek) as the title character cruising downtown streets. The movie, which is directed by Thor's Kenneth Branagh, also stars Kevin Costner (Man Of Steel), Keira Knightley (Pirates Of The Caribbean), and Branagh himself. The movie is expected to hit theaters December 25th, 2013.

I have absolutely no idea who Jack Ryan is, but he looks like he's riding Dredd's bike lol

@GetsugaTensho22: Don't forget "The Sum of All Fears" with Ben Affleck playing the role of Jack Ryan.

My fav of the Jack Ryan series is Clear & Present Danger, that movie owned and still holds up till this day. That motorcade ambush scene has to be one of the top 5 action scenes in movie history.

Is it written in Chris Pine's contract that he must appear on a motorcycle in all of his films? They managed to get one into Star Trek!

I'm still not liking the Jack Ryan set up. They should have stuck with the original series, kept it going with Ford and made the books where he becomes President into films.

@Mysterion: my favorite is Patriot Games but Clear and Present Danger is a darn close second. the ambush scene is just what you said, fantastic.

Should this website get a name change? The initial emphasis was solely on comic film news, then broader genre coverage (sci-fi, fantasy, etc.), and now action films.

@Rodney21a - That is of course your opinion, and not yours alone, but Tarantino did some great work with Kill Bill 2, and Inglorious Basterds. If we include his writing alone, I'm particularly fond of True Romance (which became Tony Scott's masterpiece) and (at least the idea behind) From Dusk Till Dawn (the end got a little cheesy).

That's a connection at least. Thanks.

Patriot Games was my favorite. I´ve said it before but i say it again. I love movies with Irish themes.
Harrison Ford vs Sean Bean. I mean thats a showdown!:)

And what a cast! Harrison Ford, Sean Bean, Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Bergin, Anne Archer, Polly Walker with Richard Harris and James Earl Jones (The legendary voice of Darth Vader and Lion King)

Chris Pine looks great as Jack Ryan. He almost looks like he could pass for a much younger Harrison Ford. Very cool.

I recall Jack Ryan as just a intelligence advisor who gets caught up in action but the movies make it seem like he's James Bond or something.

It would be better if he's not super capable but just good enough & smart enough to overcome the bad guys..otherwise he's just a super agent clone.

By the way,Tarantino movies are great.

sameoldthing@ Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford nailed that Advisor part. They both kinda just get caught up in the action.
