Lionsgate has just debuted the first footage from the new Robin Hood movie, which stars Kingsman: The Golden Circle actor Taron Egerton as the legendary bandit of the title.

This latest take on the story promises to bring us the "untold story", and it does look like they've mixed things up a little. Here, "The Hood" is actually the secret identity of Robin of Loxley, who has taken his place as a nobleman after The Crusades.

Robin Hood is directed by Guy Rit... err, Otto Bathurst, and also stars Jamie Foxx as "Little" John, Ben Mendelsohn as The Sheriff of Nottingham, Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck, Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlett, and Eve Hewson as Marion.

Have a look at the trailer and a new poster below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

"Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance."
