It appears
The Expendables 4, the fourth installment in the ensemble action film series starring Sylvester Stallone (and a number of other iconic action stars), is back on track.
The actor/writer took to social media to tease the news. He posted an image from the original
Expendables film on Instagram along with the caption:
"Just when you thought it was safe to go outside... They're coming back!"
Exactly "who" is returning for the fourth film remains to be seen. Stallone, of course, seems like a given, but the ensemble cast is still a mystery. The list of actors that have appeared in past
Expendables films include Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford and Kelsey Grammer.
The Expendables franchise has earned more than $800 million worldwide. However, the PG-13 rated
Expendables 3 brought in a series low $214.6 million, so it's likely the series could return to its R-rated roots with
The Expendables 4.
