It appears The Expendables 4, the fourth installment in the ensemble action film series starring Sylvester Stallone (and a number of other iconic action stars), is back on track.

The actor/writer took to social media to tease the news. He posted an image from the original Expendables film on Instagram along with the caption: "Just when you thought it was safe to go outside... They're coming back!"

Exactly "who" is returning for the fourth film remains to be seen. Stallone, of course, seems like a given, but the ensemble cast is still a mystery. The list of actors that have appeared in past Expendables films include Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford and Kelsey Grammer.

The Expendables franchise has earned more than $800 million worldwide. However, the PG-13 rated Expendables 3 brought in a series low $214.6 million, so it's likely the series could return to its R-rated roots with The Expendables 4.

The 2nd was the only good one because it didn't take itself seriously. Sly needs to stop.

Awesome if you ask me. I throughly enjoyed the first two and, while it certainly was the lesser of the three and could have been better, the third film wasn’t that’s bad honestly. Now of course the question is who will be added to the team!

@BaronZemo - And you can add the Furious generation aswell with the likes of Vin Diesel, the Rock or Gerald Butler (although the last one hasn't been in F&F)

@aflynn - so were just using the word "rapist" before judgement is called? Alright then a lot of people whether on trial or not are rapists

Cool. I've enjoyed them all. Wish the Van Damme vs. Stallone fight was more even, but still fun. Banderas and Snipes were awesome in the last.
