Tom Cruise Exits MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E; WB Recasting
In a pretty shocking turn of events, Deadline report that Cruise has exited Guy Ritchie's remake of the classic tv series to focus on gearing up for Mission Impossible 5. Warner Bros. now find themselves needing to recast for a Fall start..
According to Deadline, Tom Cruise has jumped ship from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and will no longer be playing the lead role in the Guy Ritchie directed movie. Apparently the actor stepped away from the picture to focus on producing and starring in Mission: Impossible 5, which Paramount and Skydance are now planning to begin shooting before year’s end. Cruise would have starred alongside Armie Hammer, and WB will now search for a replacement partner for the Lone Ranger star. The original TV series ran from 1964-68, and starred Robert Vaughan and David McCallum as agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement, Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin as they battled the evil forces of "Thrush" (sounds nasty).
