It seems everyone is taking it as a foregone conclusion that Skyfall will be actor Daniel Craig's last James Bond movie. Everyone from Hugh Jackman to Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender have spoken out about the iconic role at one point or another and now actor Tom Hardy has stated that he'd be interested in the role as well, provided his Inception and TDKR director Christopher Nolan came aboard as well. So what do you guys think, would Tom Hardy make a good 007? How about Christopher Nolan bringing his cinematic vision to the franchise? Sound off in the comments section below!

Hugh Jackman has stated he'd love to play James Bond.

Idris Elba has also stated that he'd like to get his "license to kill" from M.

Some say Fassbender's portrayal of Magneto in X-Men:First Class
was really a covert audition for the role of Bond.

James Bond, code name 007, is a fictional character created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short story collections. There have been six other authors who wrote authorised Bond novels or novelizations after Fleming's death in 1964: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks and Jeffery Deaver. Additionally, Charlie Higson wrote a series on a young James Bond and Kate Westbrook wrote three novels based on the diaries of a recurring series character, Moneypenny.

The fictional British Secret Service agent has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip and video game formats as well as being used in the longest running and the second-highest grossing film franchise to date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. As of 2012, there have been twenty two films in the Eon Productions series, with a twenty third, Skyfall, due for release on 26 October 2012. The film will star Daniel Craig in his third portrayal of Bond: he is the sixth actor to play Bond in the Eon series. There have also been two independent productions of Bond films, Casino Royale, a 1967 spoof, and Never Say Never Again, a 1983 remake of an earlier Eon-produced film, Thunderball.

The films are renowned for a number of features, including the musical accompaniment, with the theme songs to the films having picked up Academy Award nominations on several occasions. Other important elements which run through most of the films include Bond's cars, his guns and the gadgets he is supplied with by Q Branch.

Not sure about Hardy, but I'd love to see Nolan direct a Bond film.

Nolan would be wasted on Bond. Let it die with Skyfall. How many more movies following the exact same formula can people be exited for?

Never considered Nolan directing bond...interesting idea. Don't think Tom Hardy would be a good bond though, however i felt the same about Daniel at first.

Nolan could bring a realistic tone...such as no more unrealistic stunts like jumping out of a plane with one parachute, shared between two people, opening seconds before landing and survive without a scratch 'Quantum of Solace' (one of many examples). Don't get me wrong, I love Bond and his stunts, but most are so unbelievable, ridiculous and distracting. However in TDK, Batman did catch Rachel seconds before crushing a car and they're both fine.

I'd rather have Michael Fassbender as the new bond and as long as Nolan were to write the screenplay as well, then hell yeah to him directing.

I feel that Inception is a very good indication that Nolan can definitely make a Bond film. Tom hardy is a very good actor and he's got a very good British accent as well so why not? they seem to be working so well together.

Yeah, still rather have Fassbender. We need a Bond who's a little more on the debonair side than the tough guy side after Craig.

Nolan could probably come up with a pretty good bond story, but I'd rather see him doing his own stuff so he had full creative freedom.

I would go with Fassbender or Clive Owen. Hardy is ok but too boyish looking for me as Bond. Bond has always been dashing but a little rough and tumble around the edges.

Tom Hardy is a damn good actor watch movies like Bronson, The Take, and Warrior. But I just dont see him as 007, he just seems a little too gritty for the role. On the other hand Nolan on a 007 film would be quite exciting. Me personally I would like to see Fassbender as Bond as well. I would like to see Idris Elba have a shot at 007 as well but I dont think the world is mature enough for a black James Bond.

fassbender would be main contender for the fictional suave englishman role of james bond
but in recent years they have made bond a soldier who works for the guv and this if it were to continue would suit the more pliable and rugged tom hardy

Idris Elba will not .
The James Bond character is a white guy,and although the trend has been recently to change characters ethnicities,I dont think this will happen here.

someone upstairs (batfan175) mentioned that tom hardy 'he's got a very good British accent'
he is a british guy.
is he that good an actor that this was not obvious? now that would be cool.

Hardy, Nolan, Bond? Sounds like a hit. Wouldn't mind seeing Idris suave out on some Bond action too. Just let that Ghost Rider shit die down a bit.

TopCat: I can't believe you actually said this. You are usually spot on with your well thought out comments.

Nolan could bring a realistic tone...such as no more unrealistic stunts like jumping out of a plane with one parachute, shared between two people, opening seconds before landing and survive without a scratch 'Quantum of Solace' (one of many examples).

However in TDK, Batman did catch Rachel seconds before crushing a car and they're both fine.

They are the same scene only there is no shute at all in one of them. =D

All 4 Men up there need a Franchise IMO. I could careless about the First Class film continuing. "The Wolverine" may be good but I highly Doubt that Franchise will be redeemed. The Dark Knight is done and nothing Elba has been in is franchise worthy.

Elba needs some badass role, he has a fight scene in the Movie "Legacy" that was stupendous. The film was great as well.

Hardy you can tell can throw down. He could do a nice midpoint between the Smooth Suave Bonds of old and the more Rugged Kickass Craig Bond.

Hugh Jackman would be like Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery did the Fusion Dance. So this means he would be awesome!

Fassbender IMO is one of the best actors out there right now. Everyone on this list is great but while most of them are like MVP players in the NBA Fassbender is Jordan and he needs to shine. First Class was a really bad movie, the acting with the exception of a few was really bad and while the few were great, that movie would have been disastrous without him. He showed true leading man material.

Fassbender could really be an Awesome Tarzan too....

To be fair with the new gritty and mundane tone of the Bond franchise, nolan would fit in well.

I prefer the older suave and stylish Bond.

I like Hugh Jackman, but without the sideburns and claws he's about as menacing as a balloon on a stick. At least cast an actor who has physical presence. Gerard Butler would knock it out of the park.

@RidiculousFanBoyDemands - Clive Owen is another good call. But I think he was offered or tried out for the role before Daniel Craig and turned it down.

My top 5 Bond choices would be Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender and Andrew Lincoln.

I was hoping Bale would be cast before they went with Daniel Craig.

Isn't there something going around that James Bond is a codename, just like 007 is?

I like that idea, it adds to it, i think.

I'm happy for any of them to play bond, maybe not Hugh Jackman, but the others sound like a good idea, as for Nolan directing, i'm not against it.
