Warner Bros. Pictures struck gold with The LEGO Movie. The animated film has grossed over $77 million since its debut last weekend. Even though RoboCop is debuting this weekend most experts predict The LEGO Movie will easily trounce Jose Padilha's remake.

Warner Bros. has shared some early conceptual designs with the New York Times for the female lead, Wildstyle, who was voiced by The Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks. Below those designs, you can see an early design for the Master Builder's submarine.

Mr. Miller said that because of the blocky, trapezoidal nature of Lego bodies, it was sometimes difficult to fashion female characters. After trying out a few different ideas, the directors decided that they were trying to tell too much of Wyldstyle’s story with her costume, so they boiled it down to counterculture ninja graffiti artist, tough but cute. - New York Times

“The LEGO® Movie,” the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO® adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, opens in theaters February 7, 2014. Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”), it stars Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Charlie Day, with Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
