The universally-acclaimed
Zootopia is now officially at
$1 billion worldwide. This makes it only the fourth animated film to accomplish that milestone, after
Toy Story 3 ($1.06 billion),
Frozen ($1.28 billion), and
Minions ($1.15 billion). This also makes it the fourth original film to cross $1 billion, after
Titanic ($2.19 billion),
Avatar ($2.79 billion), and
Frozen ($1.28 billion). Who knows how much it will end up with.
Zootopia is still going strong in Japan (a place where Disney animated films tend to do very well,
Frozen's $250 million, etc.)
This makes it the second Disney film of the year to cross $1 billion, after
Captain America: Civil War. Disney looks set to have at least three more films that reach $1 billion this year:
Finding Dory, Rogue One, and
The Jungle Book.
