After an epic twelve-book series which ended in 2015 and sold over 70 million books worldwide since 1997, Dav Pilkey's principal-turned-superhero Captain Underpants is making a giant leap to the big screen this summer with his very own animated feature film, and he's bringing plenty of action, thrills, and above all else, "laffs!"

So, you know, you might want to watch out Wonder Woman...

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie will tell the tale of two 10-year-old fourth graders, George Beard & Harold Hutchins, who hypnotise their arrogant principal, Benny Krupp, and turn him into their kind-hearted and lovable comic book creation Captain Underpants. While their trickery will be plenty of fun in the beginning, things start to take a turn for the worst when the mad scientist Professor Poopypants arrives at their school with his own nefarious agenda.

Ed Helms (The Hangover) voices the title character while Kevin Hart (Jumanji) & Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley) voice Beard and Hutchins, respectively, and Nick Kroll (The League) provides the voice of the dastardly Professor. Jordan Peele (Get Out) and Kristen Schaal (The Last Man on Earth) also feature.

I grew up with these books... they were actually a lot of fun to read (plus, they were so interactive). I really hope this turns out!

Don't like what I'm seeing here. Doesn't seem to have the charm of the books down, and I don't like Ed Helms for Captain Underpants. Looks like the wrong route to take for the character. Who knows though, it's just a trailer. Visually, was hoping it'd look more like the Peanuts movie.

I used to love the books. If this movie was coming out when I was 8 I'd be all over it. Now... not so much. Kids'll probably dig it though.

Yeah, loved these when I was younger, always got them at the book fair at school lol. This just seems to trying too hard, and i'm not a fan of the voice actors tbh. Just because they're great, funny actors, doesn't translate to animated. Mostly talking about Ed Helms and Kevin Hart.

@BigMikeReviews - That kinda bugged me to. Not how I imagined their voices AT ALL. Everyone else seems about fine though.

@ThatAlexDude - Yea I get why they had to go for the big names for marketability, but it just doesn't sound right

@BigMikeReviews - Someone more like Michael Cera's age (he's 28 at the moment) would probably be more reasonable.

I used to go crazy for these books as a little kid. But I asked my little brother if he reads them and he didn't know what I was talking about.

One thing I think/hope we can all agree on regardless of whatever we think of this trailer... it looks better than Boss Baby.
