About Minions: The Rise of Gru
Minions: The Rise of Gru is the origin story of how the world's greatest supervillain first met his iconic Minions, forged cinema's most despicable crew, and faced off against the most unstoppable criminal force ever assembled. It comes from the creators of the most successful global animated franchise in the history of the industry.
Before Gru (Steve Carell, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role) becomes the master of evil, he is just a young boy living in a suburban neighborhood in the 1970s and plotting to take over the world from his basement. This takes place a long time before Gru becomes the master of evil. At this point, things aren't exactly going according to plan. This impromptu family is formed after Gru has a chance encounter with the Minions, who are comprised of Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto, the latter of whom is a new Minion who wears braces and has a strong desire to please. Kevin, Stuart, and Bob are Gru's original Minions, while Otto is a new Minion who has an intense desire to please. They work together on the development of their first weapons, the construction of their first hideout, and the carrying out of their first missions.
Gru, the group's most devoted fanboy, submits his application to become the Vicious 6's newest member after the notorious supervillain supergroup known as the Vicious 6 gets rid of their leader, the legendary martial arts fighter Wild Knuckles (Academy Award winner Alan Arkin). The Vicious 6 are not impressed by the short would-be villain, but then Gru outsmarts them and infuriates them, and all of a sudden he finds himself to be the mortal enemy of the person who is the most evil person in the world. While Gru is on the run, the Minions endeavor to become skilled in the art of kung fu in order to assist in saving him. Gru, meanwhile, realizes that even the most evil of people need assistance from their companions at times.
