Could a SAMURAI JACK Movie Work?

Could a SAMURAI JACK Movie Work?

The show went off about 10 years ago, so why not explore the possibility?

One of my favorite Toonami shows growing up was easily Samurai Jack. The soundtrack, the tone, the wide variety of characters, a unique villain and a badass protagonist all contributed to a show unlike anything I had seen before. I think it could be PG-13 since there is a lot of violence, but not much blood since Samurai Jack is usually slicing through robots and Aku (who isn’t made of flesh). The other question would be whether or not to keep it animated of make it live action. Personally, I think it would attract a larger audience if it was live action and had a Django-like tone and feel to it (the show had spaghetti western qualities to it), but with a futuristic twist. I would worry about how Aku would look in CGI, especially if the movie was on a modest budget, but if the moviemakers got the tone right, wrote a decent storyline and had quality sword fighting scenes I think the movie could provide a unique cinematic experience.

Samurai Jack is easily the greatest animated show to date. I free UP on that crap. I would love to see a FILM!

The only problem is it would never live up to my expectations. I absolutely loved that show, but I would never be completely satisfied with casting and creative design choices. Although they could probably get the story right, as long as they keep it simple and avoid any convoluted story telling just for the sake of it.

Hmm. I'm torn.

I'd love to see this. I think Aku could look bad ass if they did it right. Samurai Jack is totally badass. I could see it working as a motion capture film ala Tin Tin. I just feel like that would be better than live action.

Samurai Jack was fantastic. Genndy Tartakovsky is the man. His Star Wars: The Clone Wars micro series was awesome too. It had the same tone and style as Samurai Jack only it was Star Wars. Great stuff.

Live action would be the way to go in my opinion. If you did animated, you'd have to get the voice actors from the original series. And well... Mako is irreplaceable in the voice acting world.

If only Mako would still be alive, we probably already have a good Avatar-film and Samurai Jack-movie upcoming.

I loved Samurai Jack that was a great show. Gendy Tartakovsky has created or written for great cartoons Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Star Wars Clone Wars(2003), and his last creation which got tragically cut short Sym-Bionic Titan. I loved his work now a live action film of Samurai Jack I would be highly skeptical of worried if they could pull it off.
