Hmm...strange looking Wolverine...but the animation is incredible!!!

The Wolverine animation reminds me of Ninja Scroll, which is good. But, you're right: what's up with skinny long-hair Wolverine?
bsprecher
bsprecher - 7/25/2009, 1:32 AM
Remember, it's a "reimagining." The characters don't necessarily have anything to do with their Marvel origins.

Yeah, I can dig that. Japanese animation has so much more vitality than American animation. Iron Man seems a natural for anime.

That wolverine is going to take some getting used to, iron man looked good

they are cool. but i wonder, if these characters are popular BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY ORIGINALLY ARE, why then make such radical changes?

i mean it is a cool project, but "reimagining" some character ultimately leads to the creation of another one, a different one.

calavera666 - 7/25/2009, 7:50 AM
Wolverine = Punk looking Kenshin Character with emo feeling and super otaku samurai claws..... it's no no for me

plus, animation quality sucks, it's just a bunch of cheap shiny effects and still frames scrolling
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/25/2009, 8:11 AM
LMAO...uhhhhh...no

i guess all you have to do is give anyone some claws and that automatically makes them wolverine??

supermike will love this nonsense...

@ sirjedifrank

that's why i never got into the ultimate universe.

@ calavera

the animation does suck, doesn't it?? i mean yeah, the detail on the people isn't bad, but there's not a whole lot of detail in their movements, especially wolverine, it doesn't flow right when he's fighting. iron man looked better, i'll give it that, but still dumb

The way that Marvel logo comes up does something to me everytime!

and ermm is that Wolverine?

I love watching animated versions of comic book heroes so I'm all for it but umm I can deal with 'The Batman' having small ears but Wolverine like this?!

The Iron Man was very impressive. not sure I liked Wolverine that much.
animeex
animeex - 7/25/2009, 9:04 AM
I like it. I do agree with some of you. Wolverine will take getting used to. It has that Vampire Hunter D look. I wish the hair was shorter. I do like that he cuts things and not the USA version were he barely cuts and just wrestles his opponents. They will not make that mistake and will show him hack things and people up. Iron Man is a definite for the animation. I knew he would look great. They did enough work with Ghost in the Shell and Gundams. Then again, I am an anime fan. Although that doesn't mean to do everything this way. I just love how the US companies like Disney claim to be so much better at animation and yet the Japanese style looks better. I heard they do it for 1/3 - 1/2 the cost.

iron man is better than wolvie..
i don't like anime much more..
Cheesey1
Cheesey1 - 7/25/2009, 9:19 AM
Marvel said they were going to do an anime project and both of them seem 100% anime, nothing watered down there. Yeah Wolvie looks scrawny and the positioning of his claws was a bit off, but I got over it very quickly. That goes with the anime territory. Liked them both, plus if this helps Marvel become better known in Japan, which already has its own completely dominant comic book scene, then well done Marvel.

if there is one thing the Japanese no how to do right its robots and Ironman is perfect for this kinda thing. i think growing up they didn't have boogy men in their closet, they had robots, thats why they have such a healthy respect for them. wolverine, cool in a novelty kinda way. kinda like a wolvie bobble head, its reimaging.

IM looks sweet though

SabretoothTiger - 7/25/2009, 10:24 AM
ya iron man was way sick but wolverine looks bad i think really though the only reason that it looks as bad as everyone says is because theres no footage of him in motion really all you see are claw marks across a black screen and then seein guys fall i wanna see him slicin arms off and whatnot i dont wanna just see them fall to pieces
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 7/25/2009, 10:27 AM
Both look AWESOME BRENT @ ; )

Who the Frig put thumbs down on this??

Pity FOX cant do a decent WOLVERINE! Heh heh, had to say it! .. ; D

Its great their airing in JAPAN but what about EVERYWHERE else??? It aint gonna be like the animated WITCHBLADE is it, where you can only see 'em if you download 'em an their not in english??? I hope not lol.

thwhtGuardian - 7/25/2009, 10:38 AM
hmmm, iron man looks cool...but as for wolverine, well I understand it's a re imagining but it looks like they already had a show planned out and then just decided to slap some claws on the title character and call it wolverine. But I could be wrong, the trailer gives us nothing to do with the plot or characterization, perhaps there is a similarity there and we just can't see it.

I didn't like the Wolverine one however I thought the Ironman one looked awesome. Are they suppose to be tv series or just films? I wish they would do more anime Batman because those anime shorts were designed really well and of course Kevin Conroy made it even better.

Iron Man was EXCELLENT!

krzymua - 7/25/2009, 11:24 AM
well our views are the same,
Wolverine is ruined, well somebody had to ruin it, it was now or never, right?! ;p...
In the other hand Iron man seem to be awesome, hope its going to be in english language too, its anime, meaning it will be marketed towards japanese fans.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It looked like wolverines claws were coming out of his upper palm and going out between his fingers, and not coming out of the back of his hands or his knuckles like usual.
Ninjas vs Pirates, no longer! Now they have teamed up! Now its Iron Man vs ninja mecha pirates...
i love how half of the people on here keep on saying that american animation is better than japanese animation when they already know that japanese animation is far superior (animation wise, not story, though lots of anime have great stories).
@animeex: wouldnt u agree that gundam 00 has byfar the best animation youve seen? thats what the iron man teaser reminded me of.
both look good on my part.... it seems theyre taking wolverine and putting a spiritual, demon aspect like many other animes into it.
@zidane: its a re-imagining of wolverine, its supposed to be based upon japanese culture, so obviously its different.
actually, i read the wolverine anime is based on an 80's manga/comic adaptation of wolverine.
i cant wait to see what the x-men and blade ones look like also.
calavera666
calavera666 - 7/25/2009, 1:55 PM
joob234
Explain how japanese animation is "superior" than american, please.
Japanese is cheaper, has 4 frames per second, when american animation has 24 frames per second.
I dont know how making a character stand up in a frozen heroic position with no more animation than open and closing its mouth for over 15 minutes can be a Superion animation.
teabag - I with you, you mincing boy hungry pedophile! (that is a Lost in Space avatar isn't it). The animation got to me on that. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the talent and admire the work but some of it was horrible!
I hate Japanese animation. Again, I can admire it for the skill but it doesn't add up! The backgrounds can be some of the most incredibly detailed masterpieces of artwork but the people are terrible! How can they get the background so right then fail at the character? Also (calavera666, this may go some way to answering your question), the backgrounds can have a mind boggling number of cells (layers) so something as insignificant as a passing bus can have every passenger moving independently with amazing detail but when it comes to an action scene it's degraded to a single colour with flashing lines! How can people so talented create masterpieces then get lazy and f*ck it up in the areas that matter most?
the iron man one kicked ass!!!!
but when i saw the wolverine one, i couldnt help but think that anime had just pooped in logan's ear. i wasnt really into that one as much, and why couldnt they allow wolverine his long beard sideburns?!?! argh why is it that anime characters can never have facial hair?!
