Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Review

Since 1959, Disney’s Sleeping Beauty has been a movie that has been adored since it's release over over 50 years ago. The classic tale where good has to overcome evil and true love conquers all is a storyline loved by many. What’s not to love about the adoring princess Aurora who has long blonde hair and a beautiful voice? Spending the first 16 years of her life hidden away in a cottage in the forest from the dark fairy Maleficent, Aurora finds herself falling in love with a stranger, which she later realizes is her betrothed. Aurora falls into Maleficent’s trap and is put to sleep until her true love wakes her with a kiss.

Along with the classic story line are beautiful images that fit perfectly. The beautiful princess, the dashing prince, the silly fairies, and the infamous villain are characters that are remembered by all that watch this movie because they each have a look that is unforgettable. Maleficent is the villain that has been so popular over time that she eventually starred in her own movie Maleficent.

Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Review

The brilliant blues, pinks, reds, purples, and greens enhance the tale of Sleeping Beauty, which bring to life the beloved characters. The magical kingdom where Princess Aurora lives becomes truly beautiful through the bright colors. Where the colors really play an important part though, is when the story travels to the Forbidden Mountain. The dark purples and bright greens make Maleficent’s terror show through and in return contrasts with the bright colors of the protagonists, distinguishing good from evil. Sleeping Beauty is a story that will continue to hold up over time because it has the classic tale, which is loved by a great deal of people.

Sleeping Beauty is available in a Blu-ray combo pack, which includes the DVD and a digital copy of the film, and on DVD. The film was released on Blu-ray back in 2008, which is now out of print, but the new Diamond Edition includes a few more extras, including some additional deleted scenes, a few of which we've included sneak peeks at below.

Sleeping Beauty is a true classic and well worth the pricetag for purchase. If you're a Disney fan, a fan of animation, or you like the classics, pull the trigger and pick it up!
