New THE LEGO MOVIE TV Spot Features 'The Flash'

It's blink and you'll miss it (appropriately enough), but this new "Everything Is Awesome" tv spot for Warner Bros. upcoming LEGO Movie gives us our first glimpse of yet another blocky little DC superhero, The Flash. Check it out after the jump.

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

The LEGO Movie opens in theaters February 7, 2014. Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs), it stars Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Charlie Day, with Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.

DC has dragged their feet for years. I still remember that Batman/Superman logo in I Am Legend. That promise was made before Iron Man and still hasn't been fulfilled since the Avengers. When the Avengers came out and was a huge success thanks to the movie universe Marvel had built with five preceding movies, DC came out with a knee-jerk reaction that we would see a Justice League movie in a few years. When they realized how woefully unprepared they were to fulfill such a promise, they took that movie out and hijacked the man of steel sequel. Then they started filling that movie up with characters, seemingly hoping to get away with a quick set up to an expanded universe and now that movie is delayed again.

I think the Lego guys are just bigger fans of the material.

Keep adding characters to Lego Movie = Good
Keep adding characters to Man of Steel 2 = Bad

The difference? Lord and Miller know know how to respect established properties and take them into new realms, Goyer and Snyder - not so much.

"Guys, the horse goes in front of the cart. Ok, but now you have the horse backwards. Come on, you had an extra year to get this right. Christ are those SQUARE WHEELS?!?" - Me in 2016, bending a metaphor until it snaps in half.

I feel like DC is waiting for Marvel to make a move with a female super hero lead... which is stupid since Wonder Woman is THE female superhero or all female superheroes. If not one of the most iconic next to Batman, Superman and Spider-Man. I enjoy DC and am a bigger fan than Marvel (not a Marvel hater, just a bigger fan), but it's time to take their risks. The only risk they've taken is killing Zod (which still is the most controversial CBM moment in forever and I love it), but they need to step their game up. Marvel is waiting for Wonder Woman and DC is waiting for whoever Marvel has in store. It's a stand still probably until Batman vs. Superman (Feat. Wonder Woman) which now isn't until 2016.
