New TOY STORY 4 Plot Details; Rashida Jones And Will McCormack Added To Writing Team

Most people assumed that Toy Story 3 would be the final instalment of that franchise, but Disney will once again return to their most successful franchise on June 16th, 2017. John Lasseter - who helmed the first two movies as well as A Bugs Life and both Cars movies - is directing, and he told The Los Angeles Times that this instalment will be a love story which picks up where the last one ended. "A lot of people in the industry view us doing sequels as being for the business of it, but for us it's pure passion," he told the site. "We only make sequels when we have a story that's as good as or better than the original. We don't just, because of the success of a film, automatically say we're going to do a sequel and then figure out what we're going to do."

The Toy Story franchise has grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide and some believe Pixar have lost their touch in recent years, so how much of that is true is debatable! Regardless, it has also been revealed that after Lasseter and Andrew Stanton (Wall-E) wrote a treatment, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack were drafted in to pen the screenplay after Pixar took note of their 2012 comedy Celeste and Jesse Forever. "They have such a great sense of character and originality," Lasseter said of Jones and McCormack. "And I wanted to get a strong female voice in the writing of this."

When a movie reaches above 400 million dollars domestically, one does not simply STOP making sequels...

i dont get the hate this is getting... you have your 3 movies that are amazing. but come on... why would adding another hurt? even if its bad it wouldnt hurt the reputation of the last 3.

and really... you think theey would brink out trash? its pixar and they owe everything to this franchise so they wouldn't tarnish its reputation. whatever they have it will be good.

I can't say I'm necessarily excited for a 4th movie, seeing as the last one ended so perfectly.

But if it's great, I'll watch it.

Well I hope they use more practical effects this time and less CG and green screen.

Gusto's comment reminds me why I hope Jaden gets the role of Static Shock. I don't want that poor kid to end up homeless or asking for money for autographs at conventions.

It better not involve bonnie and one of the toys. That would just be....

Saying we don't need a fourth Toy Story is like saying we don't need another Iron Man. I don't see anyone making that statement.

Toy Story is my favorite CGI Series. The first one and the best one. First one came out when I was 8, next one will come out when I'm 30.

@DAGuess

We don't need another Iron Man movie. We just want one really, really bad.

I loved the first two Toy Story films when I was a kid, and my son can watch Toy Story 3 on repeat for days. So, I'm down with this.

The third movie did end things perfectly, but if they have another story to tell that's really up to par with the last 3, then I don't see what the problem is. You're all going to see it anyway, even if it's just because your kids want to go.
