A Sequel To The Simpsons Movie Is Still A Possibilty!

James L. Brooks admits a sequel has been given some serious thought, but says concern of how good it may be, and the show being their first priority may hold it back for some time.

You have heard of The Simpsons, it wasn't a question, it should be fact. The show that's been on the air for over 20 years and is the longest animated show in the history of television. Well for the few people who have not heard of it, The Simpsons is an animated show that follows the Simpson family and their wacky neighbors in the crazy town of Springfield(which has never been located in a specific state). The success of the wildly popular show ended up churning out a big screen blockbuster in 2007 known as(you may have guessed) The Simpsons Movie.

Now we get word from the shows executive producer, James L. Brooks, that a sequel has been given a good amount of thought and that they have already gone over ideas:

"We're open to it, It was much harder than we anticipated. It took us a year to try and get to the point because we're all so scared of 'What are we going to do to the Simpsons' and 'What if the movie is no good?' We were all so scared about that and I thought it took us a solid year of looking at each other to get to the point where we can get to the point where we don't give a sh*t."

"It was a huge success and we're very open to it and we have a beginning notion if we want to do it, but the series always comes first with us. The series is always primary to us."

i liked the movie but it felt more like a extended episode of simpsons which isn't necessarily a bad thing

I wasn't a fan of the first one at all. For me it marked the decline in the quality of the show. I still love The Simpsons, I just wish it would get back on track.

I think every animated show on fox has gone to crap lately. I think the Simpsons being on for so long and Mcfarlene running 3 shows has really started doing some serious damage to the quality. Still love the family guy star wars specials though.

I'd like to see it. I mean: it felt like a giant, and yet very special, episode of the show. I'm all for it. Maybe they can throw in some female nudity this time. Perhaps Marge can show some skin. You didn't see much in her appearance in Playboy.

Hehehehehe a SIMPSONS article! ; P

Cool stuff @ BLEED!

Like most, FOX has lost that magic in the SIMPSONS, movie was okay but if they do do a sequel... it should be CGI'ed!

What the first movie should have been!

...and remember to watch the SIMPSONS today too!

For Family Guy to be better Family Guy would have to be good and not a direct video feed from the deepest, darkest bowels of Hell.

I still love the Simpsons.
Everyone has their own opinion on everything and it seems like on CBM trolls just keep on trolling.

Like it or not its been on longer than most of you have been alive.

So haters gonna hate....
but no one cares what you think.

End the series and make another movie, I say.

The Simpsons Movie was the best thing to happen to the show since season 9, I'm all for another one...but only if they stop the series so that they can go balls out on the sequel.

The Simpson's are funny and will always be funny, now i do think they should grow up the characters or combine family guy and the Simpson's into one show, more characters more issues, more everything, either way change to the Simpson's should come, hopefully sooner then later. I like Simpson's but they need something new its really that simple.

also out of all the shows on fox with the Simpson's, Simpson's do have the smarter characters and more thought out storyline I know they can do more.

I'm not a huge fan of the show, anymore. I used to love it, but it has fallen from grace. The movie was ok, but really was just an extended episode. I love how, when it started, Family Guy was called a Simpsons rip-off(which it essentially was), but now it seems that Simpsons his digging into the Family Guy playbook.

The Simpsons looks like a cheap Futurama knock off! lol

Just kidding! I thought the movie was great but it was risky. I can't help feel they got lucky with it. A second movie will carry more risks and I think they know it.

I'm obviously a huge Simpsons fan (just look at my sn). While the show has indisputably dropped from what it was, let's be reasonable. That show reached levels of greatness for several seasons that are impossible to maintain forever. Yes, they do seem to be running out of ideas for it, but come on! It's a sitcom that's been running for TWENTY years and several HUNDRED episodes. Coming up with something that they've never done yet should be expected to be an increasingly difficult challenge for the writers. It's still generally better than Family Guy, which is really turning a lot more vulgar, left-wing preachy, and just unfunny the last year or two.

I would love to see another Simpsons movie one day if they come up with a really good and original idea for one.

I'm from Argentina, and though the first 10 seasons are the BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN on TV and they still make me laugh, I've stopped watching the new seasons since 2000, they just SUCK ! The jokes are not funny and the characters have become SO STUPID! ALL OF THEM!!! It's incredible how they lost the magic.
