THE SIMPSONS Episodes In 4:3 Aspect Ratio Are Finally Coming To Disney+ Later This Month

Fans of The Simpsons have been demanding the original 4:3 aspect ratio versions of early episodes since Disney+ launched last November, and it's now been confirmed that they're coming later this month...

We have some good news for you today as it's been confirmed that there will be an option to watch The Simpsons in the original 4:3 aspect ratio on Disney+ starting May 28th. Why does this matter?

Well, the problem with watching those early episodes in the widescreen format is that a lot of visual jokes end up being cut off. One such example is a visit to the Duff factor which reveals that Duff, Duff Lite and Duff Dry all come from the same tube, something you don't see in widescreen.

Fans of The Simpson have been asking for these original versions since Disney+ launched last year, so it's definitely a cool move on the streaming service's part that they've finally make it happen.

Now, how much longer until we get to see the original versions of the Star Wars trilogy on there?

Hopefully its remastered 4:3 and not just the blurry vhs or dvd versions upscaled to hd/4k. Kinda disappointed that the Avatar last airbender on netflix aren't the remastered bluray versions.

Cavill joined the Vero sesh. Don't know if they're going to announce anything. Honestly, I doubt it.

@Necropolitan

I’m watching in and out...thought they might bring in some other JL members in the Zoom chat but I’m just seeing fans.

That would’ve been cool.

About damn time! Show the fans some respect with this. And not just us, the writers and animators put time into the visual gags. This is good

@Dredd97 - I hope there's more movement to return to 4:3 remasters of older TV. Cutting off big chunks of the screen just to fill a wide screen is infuriating.

@Spock0Clock - I agree. I've been watching old Star Trek episodes on Amazon, and they look great, and they're in 4:3. The stretch not only cuts off big chunks, it also loses some of the "of that era" feeling. They didn't have widescreen back then, so why mess with it now?

Now give us the Michael Jackson episode while you're at it. Its one of the best in the series and really shows how great Bart and Lisa's relationship is.
