Watsuki's original manga began in 1994 and recently concluded its non-concurrent run this past June in Jump Square. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen (Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire) will be released in Japan theaters this autumn, on August 1st. The third film, Rurouni Kenshin: Densetsu no Saigo-hen (Rurouni Kenshin: The End of a Legend) will be released just a month later, on September 13th.

First movie was shitty.

And this new one looks like it'll be just as shitty.

When it comes to Japanese movies, in regards to drama and horror they tend to do things right. But I've yet to see a Japanese action movie that I give two shits about.

If you are looking to buy a physical copy, then get a BluRay from Amazon or Zavvi in the UK. It'll have English subtitles and is shouldn't be region locked.

Otherwise just look for the torrent like Gurillapud said, it should be easy to find.

@laputhier I know everyone is entitled to have an opinion but yours is wrong. The first movie was great clearly because they got the green light to film two back to back and that is an achievement in any country. If your not a fan of the genre they why are you commenting?? It adapts the themes of the manga and series nicely... But you would only know that if you were familiar with both.

And if you don't give two shits about the RAID or RAID 2 then something is wrong with the 'kung fu' part of your brain..

That was one of the best swordplay fight scenes I've seen in a while. Loved the ninja vs. samurai feel of it. Son was wicked as shit w/ that tanto.

to all those (foolishly, IMO) still pining for a decent live-action DBZ look no further than these fine folks for how to do it right.

All the major players are back except for Tanaka (the original Yahiko) and the choreography looks just as sharp if not better!!

I really wish more CBM fans/users would see the first flic. It's what "sticking to source material" should look like. Even the creator of the original Manga, Nobuhiro was quoted in a Shonen Jump article with this stamp of approval:

"It was right on! Takeru Satoh played Kenshin’s dual personality well. He truly was Kenshin. Yosuke Eguchi who played Saitō Hajime, Koji Kikkawa who played Udō Jin-e, and Munetaka Aoki who played Sagara Sanosuke really took on their characters’ expressions and movements in the action sequences. It drew me in, especially the scene with Saitō’s Gatotsu pose. It sent chills down my spine! I thought Emi Takei playing Kamiya Kaoru was really cute and Yu Aoi playing Takani Megumi was also fantastic", and that the film itself has "parts I felt I didn’t explain well enough in the manga were improved. There were actually lines in the movie that made me think “I want to use that line in the manga!"

I don't think you could get a better cosign if you tried.

Cannot wait for this to drop

this will be better than a vast majority of the garbarge slated for this summer.
I'd bet my beard on it.

Great movies, Zatōichi is a personal favorite. Have you seen the Samurai Trilogy consisting of The Twilight Samurai, The Hidden Blade, & Love and Honor?

Some other fun films for the uninitiated: Izo, Aragami, 13 Assassins, Hara-Kiri

@sinsear

WB is the distributor on this. They wouldn't cut their own legs out from underneath them. Makes no sense to undercut, then double dip on a 3rd party production deal

If they were gonna "white wash", they would have done it already.
