With Season 3 of Netflix's live-action One Piece series on the way, the streamer has revealed four new additions to the cast.
One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta looks to bring the kingdom's brewing civil war into the spotlight, and the four new castings round out a lot of the political and personal drama that awaits.
Joining the cast for Season 3 are Emilio Sakraya (Rheingold, Those About to Die, Fortitude) as Koza, Omid Abtahi (The Mandalorian, American Gods) as Toto, Jamie Ward (The Gentlemen, His Dark Materials) as Pell, and Nabeel Khan (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Strike Back) as Chaka.
For those who may not be familiar with the manga or anime, these are four incredibly intriguing characters, all representing different aspects of the civil war.
Koza, played by Emiio Sakraya, is a childhood friend of Princess Vivi who is now leading the Alabasta Rebel Forces. Pell and Chaka, played by Jamie Ward and Nabeel Khan, respectively, are two trustworthy guards of the royal family. Pell, considered one of the strongest fighters in Alabasta, has eaten the Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Falcon, letting him transform into a full falcon or a human-falcon hybrid. Chaka is another head guard who ends up as acting captain following Igaram's disappearance. Lastly, we've got Toto, played by Omid Abtahi. Toto is a village elder of Yuba and Koza's father, serving primarily as a way to show the impact the rebellion has on regular people.
Other previous cast announcements for Season 3 include Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) as Portgas D. Ace, Cole Escola (Oh, Mary!) as theatrical assassin Bon Clay, Daisy Head (Shadow and Bone, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) as Baroque Works agent Miss Doublefinger, and Awdo Awdo (Subversion) as Mr. 1.
Season 3 of One Piece, titled The Battle of Alabasta, brings the fan-favorite Alabasta arc to life as the Straw Hats race to help Vivi (Charithra Chandran) save her homeland, which is on the brink of civil war. The official description reads:
In Season 3, a rebellion “threatens to tear the nation apart, fueled in secret by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the ruthless Sir Crocodile, and his underground syndicate Baroque Works, who seek to conquer Alabasta for themselves,” the logline reads. “In a season defined by unbreakable bonds and impossible choices, the Straw Hats must face a brewing civil war and a powerful warlord to save Vivi’s kingdom before it crumbles into the sand.”
Season 3 will, of course, see all the Straw Hats return, including Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Also returning from Season 2 are Chandran as Princess Vivi, Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, Joe Manganiello as Mr. 0, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Alabasta King Nefertari Cobra. Manganiello, Abova, and Ramamurthy have been upgraded to series regulars for Season 3.
Netflix has already announced that production on Season 3 has wrapped with the series slated to return in 2027.
