The folks over at IMAX were kind enough to let us debut a brand new Ghost in the Shell video featurette on CBM and our sister site AnimeMojo.com! Scarlett Johansson, director Rupert Sanders and the rest of the cast talk about the movie, practical effects, 65 mm film and more in the new video below.

In the near future, Major (Scarlett Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others. Based on the internationally acclaimed Japanese Manga, “The Ghost in the Shell.”

Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, and is directed by Rupert Sanders.

Ghost in the Shell is currently showing in theaters and on IMAX screens worldwide.

What did you think of the film? Did you catch it on IMAX? Make sure and share your thoughts below!

Seems like this is a split between critics. I've seen a few reviews praise Scarlett as an action heroine.

A few reviews say the film is solid and the first half is genuinely engaging, but the final act falls flat.

I saw this last night. I highly recommend seeing it in IMAX3D.

I did not unfortunately, and will be seeing it again in that format, this weekend if I can.

Also, the theater was packed on a Thursday night, so I don't think it's going to "flop like a biyatch"

@Greengo - I give it 3 out of 5 Stars.

Just saw it. Got mostly the same thing out of it that I got out of the trailers; Scarlett is stunning and sexy as [frick] in every frame. Otherwise, solid enough movie. Kinda forgot about it when I left though till now. Not amazing, not bad. Decent film. Trailers gave the whole story away though. Also it's beautifully shot and has great visuals even when scarlett isn't on screen.

Ghost in the shell was great! It takes common cyberpunk themes and displays them in a refreshing manner. The film has flaws but it also has plenty of heart and soul. The visuals, the action, the synth score, and several of the performances are excellent. Michael Pitts' Kuze is remarkably well-done.
This is a love letter to anime and 80s/90s cyberpunk.
