One of the most talked about scenes in Avengers: Endgame occurred towards the end of the movie, when the female heroes involved in the final battle gathered to help Captain Marvel fight her way through Thanos' forces with the Infinity Gauntlet.
This sequence has come to be known as the "A-Force" scene, and while some thought it was a cool, "girl power" moment, others felt it was way too hokey and ill-conceived.
Several of the actresses who feature in the scene have expressed interest in one day re-teaming with their co-stars for an A-Force movie, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Evangeline Lilly sounds more than ready and willing to make it happen.
"Yes! I would like to be on it," said Lilly when asked about the prospect of an all-female Avengers spin-off in a recent interview with CinePop. "That day that we did the scene in Endgame where it was just us women was the most special day I've ever had. It was maybe tied with the most special day I've ever had filming a Marvel movie."
Funnily enough, this sequence was originally perceived as being even more pandering by test audiences!
"When we started screen-testing it, there was a little concern for ‘Does it come off [as]pandering?’ Are we going to get people saying, ‘Oh you’re just putting that scene in there just to put the scene in there," producer Trinh Tran revealed in the Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe book. "Does it actually have a story to tell with the rest of the narrative?’ That was always a concern in the back of our heads."
Apparently, additional scenes were shot featuring the same female characters in smaller groups in an effort to make it "flow more naturally." Whether this worked or not is obviously up for debate!
