Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye Will Not Be In ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, According To Director Peyton Reed
It was rumored earlier this week that Jeremy Renner had to bow out of Mission: Impossible 6 because of commitments to Ant-Man and the Wasp, but according to Peyton Reed, that's "fake news."
A major Marvel casting rumor started to pick up some steam earlier this week when it was reported that 2x Academy Award-nominee Jeremy Renner might be reprising his role as Hawkeye in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp, but it's been two days since and that rumor has now been thoroughly debunked.
Director Peyton Reed took to Twitter this morning to finally put a definitive end to all the rumors and speculation by calling the recent reports "Fake News," effectively confirming that Scott Lang's Avenger teammate will not be making an appearance in the upcoming sequel to 2015's Ant-Man.
Check out his tweet below:
With Ant-Man and the Wasp now ruled out, it seems as though Renner's upcoming Marvel shooting schedule will only include the currently filming two-part Avengers: Infinity War/Avengers 4, which are due out in theaters May 2018 and May 2019, respectively. The lengthy schedule is expected to keep Renner occupied for the better part of the year, but there's bound to be some downtime this summer, so could that result in a return for William Brandt in Mission: Impossible 6? Only time will tell.
