ANT-MAN & THE WASP Nearly Saw Luis Reimagine CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR In One Of His Hilarious Recaps
Thanks to some new info from Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed, we now know that the Marvel film nearly saw Michael Peña's Luis retell the events of Captain America: Civil War in a hilarious way.
For many, Luis’ (Michael Peña) hyperactive flashbacks were a highlight of Ant-Man and its sequel, but according to director Peyton Reed, the recap scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp could have been significantly different.
In an interview with the Radio Times, Reed revealed that he and the folks at Marvel considered adding some famous Avenger cameos in Ant-Man and the Wasp by taking advantage of Luis’ unique storytelling style.
“Early on, we had a version where we were going to do a quick version of the tarmac fight from Civil War, with some ridiculous thing where, you know, Captain America has Ant-Man as a baseball and throws him. Because the whole thing is Luis’ version of events, right?”
This retelling of events wouldn’t just have seen Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) reunite with Captain America (Chris Evans), for there were a number of other “ridiculous visuals” that they came up with.
While many fans would have likely enjoyed seeing this, Reed explained that they opted not to do it since the movie already “referenced Captain America: Civil War so much,” and because they wanted to make a more standalone feature.
