ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA - Judy Greer Hasn't Been Asked To Return For The Marvel Threequel

Judy Greer (Halloween Kills) reveals that she hasn't been asked to reprise the role of Scott Lang's ex-wife, Maggie, in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Find out what she had to say about that here...

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania looks set to be Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne's biggest adventure yet. We're anticipating learning more about the Quantum Realm now Janet has returned, while Jonathan Majors is set to play another Kang the Conqueror Variant following his Loki debut.

Kathryn Newton, meanwhile, is taking over as the adult Cassie Lang, but it's beginning to look like her mom and stepdad won't factor into director Peyton Reed's highly anticipated threequel.

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Judy Greer hinted that she won't be back as Scott's ex-wife, Maggie. "I haven't been told anything so I guess I'm not in it. I'm actually not, I'm terrible at [keeping secrets]. I always tell people like, 'Just don't tell me if you don't want me to tell everyone.' No one has contacted me and feel free to print that, that I'm very available and very willing to go."

Greer's on-screen husband, Bobby Cannavale, said something similar last year, and it's easy enough to understand why there might not be room for these two in an already stacked movie.

Scott and Hope's relationship should definitely be the focus this time around, though we would be a little surprised if Maggie doesn't have something to say about her daughter suiting up as a superhero (the expectation is that Cassie will become Stature or Stinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe).

We're sure these two could always be added to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, so keep checking back here for updates. The movie is set to be released on February 17, 2023.

More movies need to have Judy Greer in them, and less movies need to have her just there to be "the mom".

@MUTO123 - She is allowed to say no to these types of roles.

A bag is a bag but better she doesn’t show up just to be the the mom for a scene.

Probably for the best. Introducing Kang to the wider audience plus doing some quantum world stuff while doing a worthy threequel for Hope/Scott, already a lot to juggle around. Is a shame they've done her dirty with her role

@Cap1 - Well she knew when she agreed to it she would play the mom role, there isn't much to do with that character, she was there to help with Scott's character development, that is all. Doing dirty with her implies they broke some promise with her.

@Urubrodi - that’s fair, doing dirty was prob the wrong phrase. They didn’t utilise her talents but yeah she signed up for it and probably got a sweet cheque

i think people are forgetting that the blip just happened. Maybe they casted an older actress to replace her?

@mastakilla39 - That should only be the case with characters that were kids before the blip. Adults usually don't chance enough in 5 years to warrant a recast.
The most likely scenario is that her character simply isn't needed in this movie

She’s Scott’s ex wife. Not really a job that comes with promise of a whole lot of character development.Don’t think she was done dirty with the role & doesn’t sound like she feels that way either. She is just happy to be involved in the mcu at all because it’s a great world to be in.Probably a job that leads to more jobs type of situation.

Although I expect Jonathan Majors to be in this for just another few scenes (as Immortus in the QR), he and the mysterious benefactor and Mitchell Carson storylines all have to tackled in this, so it's understandable they don't have time for Scott's ex-wife

It's a shame as, for me, Scott Lang's estranged family were the beating heart of the movie.

Also kudos to the film makers to show Jim Paxton as a caring, loving step father rather than a despicable low-life as often happens.

Yep - I'm a step dad myself.

Janet, Hank, Hope, Cassie and Scott are more than enough. I'm just hoping we finally get to see Hank suit up

@TheMapleSyrup - Yeah Hank and Janet (and their actors) deserve to be part of the action. Maybe in prober flashbacks if the story calls for it.

I'll have to wait until I see the finished product, of course, but the smaller story with more of a focus on character was really the core of the first two. This is definitely an unexpected development. I know that with Kang being a part of the movie, they're probably going to have to up the stakes, but part of me still wants that lighter, more small-scale aspect of the first two.

Good. Leave that part of his story alone.
